X (on the Avengers) -

Not meaning to diverge, but I disagree on many of your points.  Talk to some comic shop owners and ask them about the current line of Avenger books.  I've read comics for over 30 plus years steadily, and I'm a big Marvel fan.
P.S.  Go Spidey!   :spidey
Just to answer your question Rico. I have about four shops that I visit here and all of the owners are happy about the Avengers line. When you stick Avengers on a title, it sales more and that's something that they like. New and interesting is nice, but that doesn't mean there will be big sales behind it and with the market the way it is, I don't know many LCS owners that would rather throw their money on an unknown when they have a sure sale.

From a fan perspective, taking to other fans in the shop and on boards, they are behind the Avengers line. The Avengers are the big leagues, but the world has changed a lot over the years. One team can't get the job done and they are back to being government sponsored.

I truly understand what you're saying, but the sale don't agree with it. They have put out a bunch of books in the last few years that quickly got canceled because the sales were not there. Even if the brand seems saturated, they are pulling in the readers to sustain it. DC is taking the same path by turning Batman into an in universe brand and making dozens of new batmen.

I understand your points too Chris.  We can just agree to disagree on the Avengers books.

Let's get back to Spidey now....

Here's a look at Dennis Leary on set as Captain Stacy (Gwen's dad) filming.  More pics at the link below.  Oh, can't recall if it was posted yet, but the movie release date is July 3rd, 2012.  Which puts it only a few days or so after the next "Star Trek" movie, which will be coming out on June 29th, 2012.  Darn it, why do they do this?

Looks like Spidey is going back to comic book basics and will have mechanical webshooters in the reboot film.  I really like this idea.  Spidey is a bit of a boy genius and this will help show that off.

Another pic on the web floating around.  This could be a stunt double or perhaps an early crime fighting outfit Peter makes.  Hard to tell.

That's cool. :) The Rami Spider-Man films were incredible (I even liked pt. 3), but the organic web-shooters didn't sit well with me.

Anyone heard anything on the musical score of the film yet?

I also wonder if the film will take place in the same universe as the Avengers set-up films (Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Cap).  It would be cool (and lend the project a lot of weight) if they had a Stark or Fury cameo in it. :)

I'm a bit surprised by how much "real swinging" they seem to have going on for this movie.  I always thought they used mainly CGI.  Some more pics at the link below...

Cool pics of the new movie. Will catch this when hits in 2012. I don't know if you saw this on another post but I just finished reading Ultimate Spiderman 'Clone Saga' graphic novel. Very good book. And I started getting The Avengers from my local shop. I can't get into the other ones though because I can't afford them. There does get to be to many titles to keep up with.

I don't think they are in the same Universe. And I think that title is cool. I was hoping they would change the title from the earlier movies. Cool costume as well!!

Nope! Sony has the rights to Spiderman and they would have lost them if they didn't release a movie next year. So they put out a movie to keep the rights and thus Spidey can't play in the Avengers universe.
