D'oh!! :)

But very pleased it's the Lizard.

Rico

Sounds like it might just be a minor part - not the main villain.

WillEagle

I like that they are using a different villian from the other movies.

We're still more than a year away from Marc Webb's reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man, but The Hollywood Reporter already has some news about the proposed sequel with the announcement that James Vanderbilt will be returning as screenwriter.

Vanderbilt, whose credits also include Darkness Falls, Zodiac and The Losers, supplied the initial draft of the upcoming film (and was involved with the project when it was still a fourth part in Sam Raimi's cinematic series).

Though The Amazing Spider-Man was subsequently updated by Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves, Sony clearly has a great deal of faith in Vanderbilt's abilities and looks prepped to get a sequel to Webb's film going as quickly as possible, following its July 3, 2012 release.

A little bit of filming footage and some pics from the New York shoot have popped up online.  Looks like Oscorp plays a part in this movie.

Trailer is up!
Looks pretty good so far.

The Amazing Spiderman - Trailer 1 (HD)

This looks GOOD!!

Plus points:

1) it seems to be a RADIOACTIVE (or a least a spider that has been experimented on) spider from that footage :)

2) Web shooters!

3) They may be using the retconned backstory of what Peter's parents were doing and it looks like it is important to the story.

Can't wait for this!

I hope the First Person part of the Trailer was just for the purposes of the trailer, as I felt it did not look real and more like something from a Video game

Yeah me too. It's probably there for the purposes of the obligatory video game tie-in. ;)

I actually like the first person part of the trailer. It seemed pretty cool to see how it must look to Peter to run around as Spider-Man.  As long as it isn't overused I'll be ok with it. I was kind of hoping we didn't have to do the whole origin story yet again. Hopefully that part will happen quickly. Love that the mechanical web shooters are back!

I liked it more then I thought I would. On the other hand, the trailer really, really reminded me of a cross between Star Trek and Tron.

WillEagle

Cool trailer. I also liked the 1st person scenes. Should be a good one for us next summer.

WOW!  The studio must like this movie a lot, because they have already set a date for the sequel to it.

Columbia Pictures today set a May 2, 2014 release date for the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man! This means Spidey will be kicking off the summer of 2014!

No other film is dated for May of 2014 yet.

The Amazing Spider-Man, directed by Marc Webb, opens in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D theaters on July 3, 2012. Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field star.
