Agree very much Chris.  This is why I go to see movies and make up my own mind.  I've read Spider-Man comics a very long time and they did a great job with this film.  I want to go see it again soon.

You guys got me really wanting to go see this, not that I didn't already want to, but I will need to wait till next weekend. We decided to get more food to fill our fridge after losing all of our stuff with the power outage. I want to take my nephew with us so hopefully he'll be able to go.

Spidey is up to about $140 million in the USA and about $340 million world-wide!  Awesome!!!   :spidey

A couple of weeks back BestBuy had the original Spiderman films in Blu-Ray on sale for only $9.99 each, and even though I already owned them on DVD I decided at that price I could afford the upgrade. But the real bonus was that each film had a coupon to see Amazing Spider-man free! So, I got online and downloaded my cash coupon and Laurie and I went this afternoon. We both really enjoyed it. Is it as good as the Tobey McGuire films? I have to say in all actuality it was better than any of his films. It is better written I think because it makes the characters more human and tells a real heartfelt story. I enjoyed the special effects as well but it's the story that ultimately makes this film.  :spidey :spidey :spidey :spidey out of five  :spidey

I saw this today and I really enjoyed it. I had liked the previous Spider-man movies with Tobey McGuire, but I think that I like this interpretation more. Like others noted, the characters were more human and I actually enjoyed the origins story quite a bit. I was a person who really did not understand why they needed to reboot, but after seeing this movie, I am very happy with it and excited to see where they take it for the next movie.

I also feel that with this one, they have nailed the swinging. It feels like something that could happen, and he wasn't just whipping around...there was weight to him and they sold it well.

I would like to see Morbius the Living Vampire in a sequel, or Kraven! Kraven would rock!

I watched 3 movies yesterday including going to see this with my wife and mom. We all really enjoyed it and I would give it a 10! It wasn't as good as Avengers but it was up there. I would give Emma Stone a 10 too! Wow, is she pretty! I also agree with Chris on the swinging. That was very well done. The actors did a great job. I even liked Denis Leary who I'm not a big fan of. Really enjoyed Martin Sheen as Ben. I have enjoyed alot of things he has been in including 'The West Wing' tv series.
My favorite part was when Gwen hit The Lizard on the head and he went toward Gwen and Spiderman started going all over him with his webbing. I thought that was awesome! I also really liked the part on the bridge when he saved that kid and later the father made sure Spiderman got some help. Very cool!
I also watched 'Smitty' & 'Man On A Ledge'. Both very good and 'Smitty' is a great family movie well worth your time.

Just saw this with the family (IMAX 3D).  It was very fun, and stunning visually.

A question about the extra scene during the credits:
Who was that 2nd person in the cell at the end?  Was that just the Dr. in multiple personality mode?  I know it was a lead in to a sequel, but didn't pick up who it was.
My take on that scene was this....
I think it was Connor's imagination but I think it was suppose to represent Norman Osborn.

I was thinking Norman Osborn as well. The wife asked me who it was.
Sequel is set with everyone returning:

Andrew Garfield will return to the role of Peter Parker and Marc Webb is set to direct as Columbia Pictures prepares to begin production on the next installment of The Amazing Spider-Man, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, and Hannah Minghella, president of production for the studio. The screenplay is by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt. The film will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. The new chapter in the Spider-Man saga is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014.

Emma Stone is also in talks to return to the blockbuster franchise and is expected to reprise her role as Gwen Stacy.

The new film will begin production in early 2013. Webb, Garfield and Stone previously teamed on this summer's blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man, which has taken in more than $751 million worldwide.

Commenting on the announcement, Belgrad said, "We could not be more confident in the direction we are taking this new Spider-Man storyline and we are tremendously excited to be ramping up production again with Marc at the helm and Andrew continuing on as Peter Parker. We can't wait to share what we have in store for Peter and Spider-Man with audiences worldwide."

My vote for the next title: "The Spectacular Spider-Man", and if they get to 3, "Web of Spider-Man". I love that they are playing with titles more, like Star Trek and Batman and Superman. Very cool.

This is interesting news about the next Spidey film...

Earlier this week came the shocking report that actress Shailene Woodley's role as Mary Jane Watson had been cut from the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and would instead be moved to the third film, already dated for release on June 10, 2016. Once this news hit, rumors began to circulate that the role would be recast, with no concrete evidence that it was indeed happening. Now we may have an answer.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight Canada, A Dangerous Method and Cosmopolis star Sarah Gadon confirmed she will be joining The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, which is already set to go to four films. Gadon didn't confirm which role she'll be playing in the series, but many have already begun to speculate she will become "the new Mary Jane" and will replace Woodley. Other outlets have reported that this is in fact not the case and that Gadon will play a different role in the series. Check back here for future confirmation on the matter. Do you think Gadon will be playing MJ? Sound off below!

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, opening May 2, 2014, for Peter Parker (Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away – but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

UPDATE: The Wrap's Jeff Sneider has posted the following update to his Twitter feed. It's looking like Peter Parker isn't going to be hitting the jackpot until 2016.

"100% CONFIRMED: Sarah Gadon IS in Amazing Spider-Man 2 briefly," he writes. "She is NOT playing Mary Jane Watson, who will NOT appear until Part THREE. A FALSE rumor started that Sarah replaced Shailene as MJ. She confirmed to ET Canada she's in the movie. Fans made a connection. It's wrong. Nothing else to report, so calm down everyone. No drama here to see. Marc Webb cut MJ appearance to streamline the story."

Precisely who Gadon will be playing remains to be seen, but check back for updates as they become available.

UPDATE 2: Reiterating the news, Gadon herself has taken to Twitter with the following message:

"To all those a twitter," she writes, "I will not be playing MJ in Spider-Man. I have a role in the film, but it is not that one :)"

Heard rumors that they're setting up for a Spidey vs. the Sinister Six in one of the upcoming films. That would be awesome.  Seems clear the big climax will be the Green Goblin story we're all so familiar with at some point, and I'm loving what I'm seeing so far.
