Here's a pic of my main guy in the new part of the Badlands today.

Ah yes, Reico. I was trying to remember what you'd called him but I had it in mind as Reeko. I guess that would have other connotations.

OK, I'll shut up now.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

I still need to get out and explore! Theshat is sitting at the flight point in "new" Orgrimmar right now.

I've spent a little time now getting the lay of the land.  Orgrimar seems so different, I don't know if it's bigger, or layed out differently or what but it is definitely taking some getting used to.  Undercity seems about the same.  I haven't been to the other new/old zones in the mainland Azeroth and instead have been working on getting my 77th level priest to 80 and making some money on my 80th lvl Mage so I can purchase the flying skill that allows flight in old world Azeroth.

4000 gold by the way.  4000.  It's pretty bogus that they are touting flying in old world Azeroth as a feature of the new expansion...oh yeah, well, only if you happen to have 4000 gold lying around somewhere.  Ridiculous.

Joby - I thought I read for "slow" flying in the old world it's 250 gp and "fast" flying it's 5000 gp.  Where did you hear or read 4000 gp??

Jobydrone

It's an ability purchasable from the flight master, across from the Orgrimar flightpath.  The price is listed in game, unless I am misunderstanding.

I hope I'm wrong, because there's alot of things I'd rather do with the money I have, like buying those account bound legacy items that boost XP gains for my alts.  I read where now there are four separate items with a stackable XP bonus, so you can gain up to 40% more XP if you have all those items on your alt.  Combine that with rested XP and I'll bet the levels fly by!

How can it be in the game already?  This is a Cataclysm expansion only ability.

Jobydrone

It's not purchasable yet, just listed on the vendor.

Hmm.  So did it list two flight training choices?  There is suppose to be a low cost and higher cost one.

Unless they changed things, Heirloom gear (which is what you are referring to) doesn't cost gold, it costs justice points (which you get from running dungeons and raiding), honor points (from PvP) or Champion's Seals (which you get from the Argent Tournament). Frankly making money in WoW has become fairly trivial.

Hmm maybe I should shut up, it's been quite a while since I've been in the game so everything I say should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

Rico, if I am remembering right and my eyes weren't playing tricks on me, there were two flight abilities that I could buy for my character.  One was Flying Mastery, which it said was flying at the highest speed possible.  I assume this would be the 310 speed mounts since I already have the epic flying speed (300). I forget what that cost, could be 5000 like you said.  The other was the Flight Masters License, which was described as the ability to fly in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms, for 4000 gold.

Yes they added cost for the 310% mounts. Previously, if you had a 310% capable mount, you automatically flew at 310%. Now, if you already have a 310% mount you are grandfathered into the top flight skill. If not it will cost, it's 4 or 5K.

Jobydrone

Yes I am planning on/hoping to get the "What A Long Strange Trip It's Been" achievement (named after a song by my favorite band!) which now newly rewards you with not only the 310 speed flying Purple dragon but also free Flying Mastery!

Yeah that meta-acheivement is a tough one to get! You have to complete all the holiday achievements throughout the year, you miss even one and no meta until next year!
