Hehe!  The reason I bring up the iPhone is the cost.  What is it about $70 a month?  WOW = $14.95/month.  And I know you are a hard working college student.  Come back to Azeroth Tim!  ;)

Hahaha.  Who knows.  Actually, no, I'm out of MMOs for a year at least.  Err, the rest of my college year anyway.  That even goes for my old love Eve Online.  :(

Yeah, that's a good idea.  My sons don't play anymore either.  College comes first!

It's going to kill me but I probably am not jumping back into WoW until we get our 2010 tax refund and our family gets a new computer

I've never played the race/class combo Tauren Paladin, so I have no idea how Blizz implemented it, but I know from D&D rules Paladin's can worship any diety, but were required to have Lawful Good alignment.  I think that Deathknight class was created as an evil equivalent to the Pally although in WoW they aren't really that close.
For the last few itterations of D&D, you could actually be a dark Pally. Having inflict wounds instead of laying hands ect. So I could see this fitting with everything.

Yeah I've been out of the loop for about 20 years now.  In our game, my dungeon master and I actually created a class called the Anti-Paladin, which was very much like what you describe.  My DM had a penchant towards the evil end of the spectrum so it bugged him that at the time there was no evil equivalent to the pally.

Well, the big patch 4.0 dropped yesterday.  Mega-sized download and installed in preparation for Cataclysm coming in about two months.  Finally got in the game later last night.  Of course all my addon's are non-functional now.  But I don't use a ton of them.  All new talent trees.  Going to take me awhile to readjust.  :)

Same here, the killer for me is auctioneer isn't working right now. How will I make money?! Also Healbot on my holy paladin seems broken. It always takes a bit of time for things to settle down. I jacked all the new graphical settings up to max and I was getting 40 fps on my doghouse where I usually get over 150. The new water effects are incredible.

Rico

Yikes!  You dropped from 150fps to 40fps?!?!  With settings maxed?  This is scaring me.  What vid. card you have in that machine Joe?

P.S.  Do all zones have enhanced graphics now?

billybob476

Well I dropped when I set everything to max. I dropped the water effects down one notch and the shadow effects down one notch and I jumped back up to 90-100 fps.

I have 2 ATI 4850's in crossfire. I was running under the 'old' settings maxed with shadows one notch above half. The new options just go higher. Also the new water and sunshaft effects are hogs, you can leave them off if you want.

Rico

Hmm, that's still a bit disturbing.  I wonder if people will really be prepared for this?  You know how it goes, people will want to "max" everything on a 5 year old computer because they have been able to get away with it in WOW for a long time.  It hasn't really needed a super, power machine.  I guess until now.  I can hear the complaints rolling in already.  ;)

There's definitely some grumblings going on about how Cataclysm will drop some low end machines. This happens with every expansion. Might just be more noticeable now. They are adding DirectX 11 support which my relatively new cards don't support.

Yep, good points.  And I guess you have the option to dial things back.  Oh, well.  Like Joby said a few posts back, maybe this is a good excuse to upgrade my machine!  :)

Right, we tend to forget, this game came out in 2004. If they didn't do any graphical engine updates there's no way it would compete with modern games. It's a credit to BLizzard that they can keep this game looking as awesome as it does.

FYI - Cataclysm TV spot tomorrow night during the football game on FOX 4:15 EDT, 3:15 CST.   I'm downloading the beta - GEESH!!  15 GIGS!!  That's on top of my normal game
