Really.. I don't buy it... they had no problem with us doing it when it was out here in Los Angeles or in Vegas as the Experience. I'll be intrested to see what they do in Michigan.

NO PICTURES?!??!  That's nuts!  Did you happen to mention that the other locations have allowed it?  Copyright?!?!  HUH?!?  I sure hope it isn't like that here.

P.S.  Bryan I thought you knew that nearly everything at this is just reproductions of items.

Ktrek

I was excited about seeing this exhibit until now. I'm not interested in paying close to $40 so my wife and I can see replicas. I'll buy them if I'm that desperate!

Actually, is I mentioned, there were way more original items here than at the Experience, especially in the costumes, which I really enjoyed. I'll bet a dollar they don't allow photo's at any of the other shows. The pics in the article you posted Rico, not a lot of that was in the tour show. They will want to limit the photo's available online to increase on site visitors at $20 a pop. They even had a science center staff person wandering around to make sure you didn't take pics...or sit in the TOS Command chair like I wanted to. Remember Kenny, yours was the premiere show with lot's of extra stuff. Allowing pics there just generates interest. Now that it's on tour, they likely want to limit that. It's still well worth $20, I spent almost 2 hours walking through slowly.

Rico

Bryan you do know they have now split the show in two?  What you saw will not be coming to Detroit.  The other portion of the show (currently in Washington DC) is what is moving to Detroit in February.  I also still hope pictures are allowed.  I don't think having pics all over the web keeps people away.  Perhaps a little, but it's more likely to get people to go.  It's free advertising.  I also wonder how they limit camera phone pictures?  Those are very hard to police and some can take pretty ok pictures now.  I also don't like the idea of them changing the rules.  The whole copyright line seems pretty bogus to me.  Anyway, looks like I might need to break out my James Bond camera if I go (I'm not kidding, I actually have a miniature camera that looks like a lighter).  ;)

Bryancd

No, I didn't know they split the show up but that makes sense based on the pics Kenny posted. I will be interested to hear about the content of the other show.

No pictures, thats rubbish. I mean i'm not being funny but anyone going to a Star Trek Exhibit will want to take photo's, we all know what phasers, tricorders, the bridge look like so whats the problem with taking a few pics. As for reproductions, well thats part and parcel of the gig, I've seen countless amounts of Police Box's and i think only one of them was a prop used in filming. I wish i could get a chance to see this show, Rico, get that spy camera out and lets get some pics up here.

Bryancd

Yeah, prop reproductions under glass mean nothing to me. I can buy an AA or MR phaser and have it at home if I want. I love to see the thing which were the ACTUAL things I saw on screen. ST still has many actual props not in private hands and in circulation and the one's at this Exhibit were very good, better than ST-The Experience, IMO.

Again with the LA one there was only one maybe two reproductions. And they clearly said they were.. everything else were actually costumes and props.

Bryancd

All the costumes were 100% screen used and were the real stars of this Exhibit.

Just a reminder that I was able to take photos and video of the LA one and you can see many photos here.  http://www.geocities.com/dathon1/STTour1.html

I tell you what i would love to see is the MASH swamp set as used in the TV show. I know its at the Smithsonian Institution, as that the real deal.
The original costumes would be amazing to see, will have to go looking at Kenny's photos again.

Hey Guys, well I finally got around to editing some of the three hours of video that Harry and I took at The Tour last summer. First up are Original Costumes from the 11 movies and 5 series. It runs about 19 minutes so I had to break it up into three parts. I'll post more videos as I get them done.. enjoy.
