I just visited Startrek.com and they still have not updated a exhibit schedule. How are we going to know when it's coming to our neck of the woods? Is there another site that lists the dates and locations?  ???

The front page of the Detroit Free Press has a big article on it today about it coming to Detroit. I'll try and scan it when I get home and post it. I don't think they mention future dates but it's suppose to stay in Detroit a good part of next year from Feb. to Sept.  Which is a very long time, I think. They might be waiting to see how the show continues to do and how the movie turns out. I know it was suppose to hit Texas at some point.

Looking forward to an excited Rico on spot report sir.

OK, I'm back! Unfortunately, photo's were not allowed in the exhibit, so I took one pic outside which is below. I really enjoyed this a lot.  :thumbsup :thumbsup The exhibit rooms are well laid out and the items all all shown very well. The majority of things on display are costumes, followed by props, and some models.

The costumes are awesome and all very much authentic, including Khans outfit and TOS, TMP Kirk, and TWOK Kirk which were some of my favorites. It was great to be able to slowly examine all the details on a TWOK Engineering suit as well. They also had an original Klingon shirt and Kang's wife's uniform from "Day of the Dove"! SWEET! TNG was very well represented as well, including uniforms, Troi outfits, and Picard's Robin Hood garb! As you wandered through the exhibit rooms, there were lot's of interesting Star Trek info to read as well as production info and real space/science stuff. They also had Shinzons outfit which was great seeing close up.

The props were a mixed bag of original, screen used items and reproductions. As a prop snob, I was a bit disappointed in that, I love to see actual screen used items but most of those were sold by Paramount at that huge Star Trek auction 2 years ago. This was also my complaint about Star Trek: The Experience, where props and costumes were for the most part reproductions and not original. Each prop item is displayed and they do make mention of which are "prop reproductions", mostly phasers and communicators. They did have some real prop tricorders and medical gear from TNG and the movies, as well as an Enterprise Plasma Pistol, which is very cool. They had a replica of Kirk's command chair as well.

Models included as massive saucer section of the Enterprise D, most likely used in the scene in Generations after the crash landing and used for close up shots. It's gotta be 10 feet across! Models on display of the ships of the series were all just chrome painted AMT/ERTL kits, although they had a very nice TOS Enterprise which seemed to be larger than MR model, so I'm not sure where that came from. They had some somewhat obscure screen used ship and shuttle models as well, again most of the main filming miniatures having been sold at auction...and now at Paul Allen's museum in Seattle. They did have the full size Scorpion from Nemesis.

Set pieces included a mock up of TNG sick bay, engineering, and a spectacular full mock up of the E-D bridge! It was awesome! I sat in all the chairs and they had a view screen showing starts streaking by and the gentle hum of the engines playing. Those chairs that Data and Wes sat in? Super comfy! And I sat in the command chair and it was VERY cool. I really loved that and went back a few times to sit in them as I was practically the only person there in the exhibit at the time. And yes, I said, "Engage" a few times.  :blush
At the end of the exhibit, they have a recreation of Quarks Bar as well as a gift shop with some stuff but I didn't buy anything. They have the transporter photo op thing but it was closed. I did do the motion ride, which was just ok, it's just a flight sim with some Star Trek elements thrown in, kind of feels like an afterthought and it makes you a bit quesey.

All in all, a great time and I really enjoyed spending time examining all the stuff!  ;D

I just went back and looked at Kenny's pics and a ton of things he saw are NOT included in this road show. The one in CA had WAY more stuff! It's probably to be expected that it has been scaled down.

Sounds like you had a good time for the most part.. no photos.. that must be a museum rule as when it was out here we took hours of video and hundreds of photos.

They actually said it's a copyright law rule. It was really great and I recommend it if it comes to your area.
