I listen to a few of those, and Nobody's Listening and Geek Loves Nerd.

I do a little thing for The Instance called "Tip-Givers' Tip of the Week".  I have them all queued up in itunes so I can go back and see which ones weren't so great, analyze why, and hopefully do better next time.

Jobydrone

Hey, Darrell, I love the tip givers tip of the week.  The end of the Instance used to constantly annoy the hell out of me because of the fact that very occasionally there would be something worth listening to mixed in with about 90% terrible submissions, so I felt compelled to listen even though most of it was garbage.  Ever since you started doing the tip givers tip the general quality of peoples submissions to the instance seem to have improved dramatically.  Plus you have a great sense of humor and make me laugh.  Keep it up, and welcome to Treks in SF, hope you stick around this time!

Darrell - love your tips on "The Instance."  Didn't know that was you.  Very funny, and excellent advice.

billybob476

Indeed. TGTotW is one of my favourite Instance segments. You're right up there with Patrick and MeanGene.

Obviously, there's a bit of crossover between this place and the EL forums!

A good current events talk radio show to try is hosted by Tom Sullivan at FOX News, New York.
Tom has a conservative show and is  very even handed with the topics, unlike Rush or Lars Larson ect.

An interesting host, Tom Sullivan is from my neck of the woods - KFBK radio, Sacramento Ca. out here on the left coast.
He's a financial advisor for FOX news as well as an ex-California State Highway Patrol officer.

The first hour of his three hour show is available for download free from iTunes / tom sullivan radio

I'm sure many of you know these, but I thought I'd share them for those that don't. These are all audio podscasts and they run about 30 minutes. You can find them on iTunes.

The first is "Old Time Radio Sci Fi" http://otrscifi.mevio.com/ If you like the old radio serials, this is where you'll find them. Lately they've been playing episodes of "Superman" and "Tom Corbet, Space Cadet". True, these shows were geared toward younger listeners, but still great fun. Lately, this podcast has become very commercialized, taking up almost 25% of it's play time with ads, so keep your finger on the fast-forward button.

The next is "Relic Radio Sci Fi" http://otr.relicradio.com/. This podcasts runs some of the great "episodic" shows that were on the radio - the fore-runners to "The Twilight Zone" and "The Outer Limits". Shows like "X Minus One" and "The Zero Hour" showcased some of the best writers of the time - and some of the worst, but this podcast is great fun to listen to.

The last isn't strictly Sci-fi, but it has produced some really good sci-fi episodes. I'm talking about "The Classic Tales" http://www.theclassictales.com. This excellent one man effort is really a series of audio books, celebrating some of the classic short stories that have come to us through the years. The producer tends more toward horror stories, but he's done great stories by HG Wells, HP Lovecraft, and others (I HIGHLY recommend "The Machine Stops", written almost a century before "The Matrix" yet eerily similar.) The episodes aren't archived, but he does offer past episodes on Audible.com. (But if you are interested in hearing some past episodes, I can "loan" you some!)

Thanks for letting me share!

Peace,
Allen

Those all sound interesting.  Thanks for the heads-up.  :)

I know I haven't been around here in awhile, but I thought (since this section is new since the last time I've been here) that I would give a list of my favorite podcasts.  A few of them are of the geeky variety, but not all of them are sci-fi.

The NosillaCast Mac Podcast is one I've only recently started listening to, and I have to say, Allison Sheridan is a geek like us, PLUS she had an interview with Rod Roddenberry a couple months ago when the new Trek movie came out.

I also like The MuppetCast, I've been a listener since the beginning, and have really enjoyed watching the show evolve.  Also, if the host, Steve Swanson, and I can get our ducks in a row, I will probably be on The MuppetCast for a guest segment very soon!  Stay tuned, guys, because I'll probably plug it over here first.

Those are the main truly geeky ones I like.

BJ
Love Star Trek TOS & TNG (never really got into DS9, Voyager, or Enterprise).  Also love Star Wars (everything save for the prequels...), and Indiana Jones, and ElfQuest, basically anything remotely SF or fantasy is my bag, tho I tend more towards SF than I do fantasy.
