Los Angeles, CA – December 5, 2008 – SEE Touring Productions and Metropolitan Talent present STAR TREK THE TOUR, the largest interactive Star Trek exhibit ever, which makes its North American debut on January 18th for a limited engagement at the Queen Mary Dome in Long Beach, Calif.

This unprecedented event will give the public the opportunity to step inside the Star Trek world and become active participants in the legacy that has captured the imagination of generations: From the chance to sit on a starship bridge from the Original TV series to traveling through space on motion simulators, STAR TREK THE TOUR offers the whole family the opportunity to be fully immersed in the action. Plus, the Tour features the world's largest collection of authentic Star Trek ships, sets, costumes and props from all 5 TV series and 10 films over the last 40+ years.

William Shatner, who portrayed Star Trek's most iconic character, Captain James T. Kirk, is the official Celebrity Ambassador for the tour and will be making appearances at various times throughout the tour's multi-city run. "STAR TREK THE TOUR promises to be the largest, most interactive and entertaining Star Trek event ever presented to the public," Mr. Shatner said. "This will truly be an impressive experience for the whole family and I am happy to be associated with it."

Tickets will go on sale Friday, December 7th for American Express Cardholders and will be available to the general public beginning on December 15th. The tour lifts off in Long Beach, CA for a limited engagement, and will run through February 17. Following the Long Beach / Los Angeles engagement, the next 4 cities STAR TREK THE TOUR will visit are San Francisco, Minneapolis / St. Paul, Chicago, and Detroit.

Highlights of STAR TREK THE TOUR, which can be fully experienced with an accompanying audio tour, include:

    * The chance to take a ride through a Star Trek adventure in four full-motion, show-based flight simulators.
    * An all-new multimedia Encounter Theater, built like a theater in the round with 360 degree video screens. Computer-generated sequences put visitors in the middle of the Star Trek action.
    * The opportunity for exhibit-goers to sit on a full-size Enterprise bridge from the original TV series and have their photo taken and superimposed with an image of the original cast – including Spock, McCoy and Scotty – to look as if the Enterprise crew is standing right next to them.
    * Detailed recreations of original sets from Star Trek: The Next Generation®, including Captain Picard's quarters, Dr. Crusher's sick bay and the majestic NCC-1701-D Bridge.
    * The ability for guests to star with the original cast in an episode of their choice and watch themselves interact with Star Trek icons such as Spock and Scotty. Guests can take home a DVD of their cameo to share with family and friends.

The 50,000 square foot exhibition is equal in size to nearly two football fields filled with 250 tons of priceless Star Trek sets, original props, costumes and creations. STAR TREK THE TOUR brings together some of Hollywood's finest craftsmen and artists who created and shaped the signature look and image of Star Trek over the years, including production designer Herman Zimmerman, costume designer Robert Blackman, make-up artist Michael Westmore and visual effects creator Dan Curry. All of these original Star Trek artists lent their talents to STAR TREK THE TOUR to provide visitors with an authentic, behind-the-scenes view. Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry's son, Eugene "Rod" Roddenberry, provides a rare insider's look at what it took to make his father's vision into reality as he narrates a tribute to the man who started it all.

"Years in the making, the creation of STAR TREK THE TOUR has been a voyage of discovery worthy of the show itself," explained Martin Biallas, CEO of SEE Touring Productions, Inc, which is producing the event. "Over the past 10 years, we secured privileged access to the vaults for the Star Trek TV shows and films, plucked select gems and tirelessly assembled the world's leading collection of priceless Star Trek sets, ships, props and costumes. Now, we're bringing Star Trek to life and inviting the public to experience it up-close-and-personal in a way never before possible."

"The universal appeal of STAR TREK THE TOUR is undeniable," explained John Scher, President of Metropolitan Talent. "It has something to offer for everyone -- from 8-year-old children to 80-year-old grandparents, we have all grown up with Star Trek and watched it become one of the most beloved and popular series of all time. It has captured our imagination. Now, for the first time, we're turning fantasy into reality. We're pulling back the curtain to give the public an exclusive opportunity to step inside the Star Trek world for themselves."

STAR TREK THE TOUR, under a licensing agreement with CBS Consumer Products, is produced by SEE Touring Productions Inc. and presented by Metropolitan Talent Inc.

Is it only touring four cities? Or are those cities just the next ones it will travel to? I hope it comes to Texas...

Wow.. checking out the VIP packages.. the Q package is $1500 for unlimited access to all cities.

I might do the Captain's package (3 day pass) for $175

Geekyfanboy

I just read that this tour is going to run over five years in 40 different cities.

I'm glad Long Beach will start it off since that is only about 30 miles from me and I don't have to wait five years for it to come to my city.

Rico

Five years???  Geez!  I guess TREK is really back!  ;)

Geekyfanboy

WOW... there is so much to do there.. this is going to be a "many" day event. That three day pass is looking better and better :)

STAR TREK THE TOUR is dedicated to the over forty years of imagination, artistry and meticulous craftsmanship that together have made the Star Trek legacy the most enduring television franchise in history. This is the largest collection of artifacts, sets and information ever put on public display. A truly impressive array of exhibits, featuring sets, costumes, priceless museum pieces and props from all five Star Trek television series and ten Star Trek feature films. Together these components offer Star Trek fans and novices alike, an unprecedented encounter with the phenomenon that is Star Trek.

Here is just a sample of what you will experience at STAR TREK THE TOUR.

A HISTORY OF THE FUTURE
Nine major exhibit areas, plus a variety of displays, interactive kiosks, rare photo opportunities and unique adventures, offer a comprehensive insider's look at Star Trek in all its forms.

THE ROTUNDA
Our journey begins in The Rotunda, a monumental entrance hall that instantly ushers us into the elegant, futuristic Star Trek universe. The centerpiece is the Starship Enterprise herself, an eighteen-foot model of the NCC-1701-A beckons you to leave reality behind and enter a stunning vision of the future. Large models of Starfleet space vessels and iconic reminders of the legacy hover overhead. A video montage of classic Star Trek episodic memories alternates with powerful and familiar musical themes from over four decades of some of Star Trek's greatest moments.

THE U.S.S. ENTERPRISE NCC-1701 HOLOGRAM
As you exit The Rotunda, a holographic U.S.S. Enterprise hovers in space, awaiting the unwary visitor. Reach out to touch her and she goes to warp speed departing for the outer reaches of the Galaxy, shortly to return.

THE GENE RODDENBERRY TRIBUTE
Here is an insight into the mind of the creator of the Star Trek legacy. His personal perceptions of the genesis of one of the most successful and influential evergreen franchises in television history is narrated by his son Rod Roddenberry.

STAR TREK: THE U.S.S ENTERPRISE BRIDGE
Here is where it all began: On the U.S.S. Enterprise bridge from the original Star Trek. Here; Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Sulu, Chekov, and Uhura faced the unknown. Captain Kirk's command chair and the helm console are on display and are available for a unique photo opportunity, allowing you to sit in that famous chair!

THE GRAND ARCHWAY
One of the most impressive parts of the exhibition is a fifty foot radius half-moon display area in the center of the exhibition. It includes six video monitors in massive supporting legs of an overhead arch, each depicting the behind scenes artistry of Star Trek. Scattered among these towers are a series of costume cases filled with original costumes and iconic props from many of your favorite Star Trek series and films.

THE MUSEUM SPACE
Here all Star Trek's worlds "collide" under one magnificent soaring roof. Each corner turned reveals still another of hundreds of Star Trek icons, these are the smaller sets, ornate costumes and familiar props in the STAR TREK THE TOUR Collection. It is a truly priceless collection and is curated as professionally and completely as that of any great museum. The collection before you is considered the most complete and authentic collection of Star Trek items in existence — and that's anywhere in the Galaxy.

THE SAUCER CORRIDOR
It's not hard to imagine that you are now aboard Captain Picard's Enterprise, as a stroll down the corridor brings his exploration of the Star Trek universe sharply into focus as you see first hand settings familiar to the many generations of Star Trek fans, including:

    Captain Jean-Luc Picard's    Living Quarters
    Dr. Beverly Crusher's          Sickbay
    The U.S.S Enterprise-D      Transporter Room  & K Corridor

ENGINEERING SECTION
Here you'd find Geordi La Forge along with the ship's warp drive engine controls and the warp core itself, seen in the heart of the engine room.

THE STAR TREK TIMELINE
Forty years is just a spec of infinitesimal time when compared to the adventures of the Starship Enterprise and her sister ships. This timeline chronicles the entire Star Trek saga, truly "The History of the Future" of the Star Trek Universe and in many ways part of our own here on Earth.

STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION COMMAND BRIDGE
Here you will experience the majesty of Captain Picard's famous bridge — where you have the opportunity to see the interior, and pose for a souvenir photograph at the science station or sitting in the Captain's chair. See firsthand and up close an intergalactic battle with a Borg Cube that requires all the cunning and skill the ships of the fleet can bring to bear.

THE SHUTTLECRAFT SIMULATORS
This is the definitive warp speed encounter! Ride wild or mild... two by two... or within a group of intrepid fellow travelers. STAR TREK THE TOUR presents the most unique full-motion based simulator experiences available to the public today. Computer-generated sequences take riders out of the U.S.S. Enterprise-D aboard a Starfleet shuttle and on a thrilling flight through the solar system. Whether aboard the two passenger MaxFlight (wild) units or the fifteen passenger Doron (mild) vehicles, the guest experience is fully satisfying each and every time, and you may want to ride more than once!

INTERACTIVE EXHIBITS
Scattered throughout the circulation area are a number of walk-up interactive Star Trek Trivia Stations where you and your friends can test your trivia skills and be ranked from cadet to captain.

THE FEATURE FILM PLAZA
It is here that we find a collection of models, props and costumes from the feature film "Star Trek Nemesis". A treasure trove of icons never before seen on the North American continent: The Romulan Scorpion two-man fighter, impressive with its sleek organic curves; the massive cage in which Captain Picard was imprisoned; the magnificent costume and cloak worn by Shinzon in his bid to destroy Earth.

THE ENCOUNTER THEATER
Enter a classroom lecture on Starship Engineering and become involved in the most innovative and exciting multimedia adventures ever created in themed entertainment. Every one of your senses is challenged with this truly out of this world experience.

STARFLEET PROVISIONS
Trekkie or Trekker... there's always time to shop and STAR TREK THE TOUR provides an exclusive opportunity to select Star Trek and Tour specific merchandise available nowhere else on Earth — and there's also plenty of great food too — although you may have to get used to Klingon bloodwine or fresh Pipius claw. Whatever your choices, there is always time to reflect on your Star Trek experience and on behalf of your crew at STAR TREK THE TOUR, thanks for sharing it with us.
