I am looking into a big bulky case for mine since I use it for video and take it everywhere.  I need something with big grips on it and if it ever fell out of my hands, I have to know that it wouldn't break into a million pieces.  It's the only think I don't like about it.  I love everything else.  It just feels like I could break it any minute!

The problem with those flip covers and snapping something else on the back is I still feel the iPad is vulnerable to damage if you take it out anywhere.  I want more protection than those offer.  They are ok for around the house, but I want more of a folio type of cover/case for mine.

I just bought this from Amazon:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050SGPHY *
It has the features of the smart cover (including the sleep/wake magnets), but it also protects the entire back.  The iPad slides in, very snugly, to the case and it completely covered.  All of the ports line up for me (some reviews claim otherwise), and I've very very pleased with it so far.  Even better - it's less expensive than just the smart cover alone, by about $15!

It is very thin, so it's not going to protect against hard bangs or drops, but I think it's perfectly fine for most daily transportation.  When I do travel with my iPad2, I play to slide the whole thing (with the cover on) into my netbook sleeve (obviously leaving the netbook at home) for some added protection and padding during the trip.  A standard sleeve for a 10-inch netbook does the trick for me.

*In that listing, you see the pink, orange and green covers, but the listing is specifically for the green one (mine's green). There is a black one as well, it's just a different item on amazon, and a little more expensive (about $5).

That's sweet! Looks just like the Smart Cover© only better!

Case isn't too bad, but man those are some ugly colors it comes in.

Rick - If your Ipad is new I would invest in an extended warranty through Squaretrade. They are a really good company, have reasonable rates and great customer service.

Best company out there for this kind of service in my opinion.

I could get one of these:

http://www.ipad.e-guides.org/easydy-e88-%E2%80%93-ipad-2-look-and-feel-for-under-100/

and one of these:

A tablet and a smartphone for less then an iPad2.  A big scree but not as fast as the iPad and a small screen faster than the iPad and a phone that works as a hotspot so the big screen could get on line.  The iPad is taost except for die hard core applovers.

Not sure why your on this anti-Apple kick here lately but....I think this paragraph from the first article sums it up.

The specs of a device are clearly lagging, as a counterpart comes with a 800×600 pixels screen, a single-core 800 Mhz ARM processor, 256 MB of RAM, and 4 GB of peep storage – in comparison, a iPad 2 comes with a 1024×768 pixels screen, a dual-core 1 GHz ARM processor, 512 MB of RAM, and during slightest 16 GB of peep storage.

So....remind me why I would want that over an iPad again?...

But the phone is certainly nice, I've seen that model around and haven't heard anything bad about it.  Certainly is one of the more powerful droid models you can get.

As for the iPad-copycat, it hasn't arrived in the US yet and I'd love to see them get it past Apple.  I have this sneaking suspicion they will sue the China company for copyright infringement as that looks like an iPad and heck, we got Samsung being sued right now for phones that look similar to the 3GS model.  (Although Samsung counter-sued eheh).

Besides, I wouldn't trust any new tablet under $100.  It probably is cheap for a reason.  "You get what you paid for".

I'm not anti-Apple.  I DON'T CARE!

It is just technology to me.  Brand loyalty is for kids.

Fascinating but Illogical.

The Sensation smartphone has basically the same processor as the iPad with a higher clock speed.  The $100 tablet has the big screen.  So those two devices in combination look better than just the iPad.  I don't understand any basis for disagreement besides irrational brand loyalty.

What else do you expect from Vulcans.  LOL

Ouch for RIM: But Yay for Employees!  :)

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/padgadget/~3/L3fauMd-wXA/

According to the New York Times, a survey released by the Tech and I.T. market research firm Forrester Research notes that corporations are changing their long-standing policies, so that more employees now have a say in the type of technology they use in the work place.

Ted Schadler, an analyst with Forrester Research, "What broke the camel's back was the iPad, because executives brought it into the company and said 'Hey, you've got to support this.' "

This sea change in policy, termed the consumerization of of I.T. by some, has implications for the über-competitive electronics market. The I.T. departments of large corporations have traditionally been the stronghold of RIM., and its Blackberry.

According to Forrester's survey: 48 percent of information workers buy the smartphone they want for the office whether their I.T. department supports it or not. Nearly half of those surveyed said that they paid for their work smartphone in full while 41 percent said their employer paid; 9 percent said both parties split the cost.

Although abandoning the one-size-fits-all approach to technology raises some concerns for corporations, particularly regarding security, it could turn out to be a cost-saving measure. Many iPad and iPhone toting employees may bypass the company's I.T. department in favor of Apple's tech support. As Barclay's Capital Ben Reitzes notes, "You can basically outsource your I.T. department to Apple."

The iPad is still a relatively new addition to the work place, and it may not be qualify for the same coverage as as a smartphone or laptop, at least not yet, but when given a choice, companies are realizing that workers want Apple.

Citrix Systems, a company that actually makes software which helps other company's implement Bring Your Own Device Programs, found it saved around 20 percent on each laptop over three years. Citrix Program comprises around 1000 employees, 46 percent of which have bought Mac computers. "That was a little bit of a surprise," notes Citrix's chief information officer, Paul Martine,

When given a choice, employees are choosing Apple's consumer-friendly approach. Even if it is difficult to quantify the exact number of the company's devices that are entering the workplace, Apple's overall growth (as compared to weak data in the PC market, RIM, and HP) support this idea. Reitzes adds, "What you're seeing is that Apple's approach is winning, and it is tough for the others to keep up," Mr. Reitzes said.

....told you guys.
Yeah that's interesting, but it still says, that when given a choice, a majority of people went with the PC vs the mac.
