@feathers

I have done large amounts of development also. When someone asks if they want something done or if it's possible we ALWAYS say:

"How much money and time do you want to spend?"

Ripley: Ash. Any suggestions from you or Mother?
Ash: No, we're still collating.
Ripley: [Laughing in disbelief] You're what? You're still collating? I find that hard to believe.

Well the fact is WoW is and has been for a little while now under the auspices of Activision, a company well known for its "anything for a buck" mentality.  So far there's been little evidence of tampering considering WoW is by far the biggest consistent cash cow in gaming, but it wouldn't surprise me too much if this changes.  And it certainly wouldn't surprise me if certain Activision bigwigs were looking at potential delays caused by whatever features and simply gave the order to get it done by such and such a date.

Good points Joby.  I still think Blizzard has done a great job over the years with WOW and it's other games.  I have faith in them, but it always comes down to making money.

I want the name "Bones" for my Worgen but I'm sure it's taken.

There are 130 characters over level 10 with the name "Bones", just choose a server where there isn't one :)

Don't think I saw ER on that list. Unless someone has a level 1 placeholder toon holding on to the name you might be ok.

I'll give it a shot but I would faint from shock if someone hasn't already snagged it there...maybe I'll try Bonezz or something.  It has the whole giant doggy/star trek thing going on that is too cool to pass up. ;)

It always annoyed & confused me that Blizzard Merged with Activision.  Other than $$, there was no point to the merger.  I would quit Activision and EA games for good, (as I find their attitudes toward customers and developers very questionable) except that's impossible as they have their hands on a lot of PC games.  Especially Mass Effect 2, so stuck between a rock and a hard place on that one.

Very cool shot Billybob.

I work in software development. I have a common thing I say to stakeholders when they ask me if something is possible to do: "We can do anything you want, the only limitations on us are time and money."

if they wanted this guild advancement system to come out with Cataclysm, this is likely the most feasible solution given the time, money and manpower available.

Thank you! I've done my stint in software development and am somewhat fed up with hearing "it's only software there must be a solution".

The answer is "of course there is, how long have you got?".

Equally, comments having a dig at business for trying to make money are really starting to annoy me too. I work for a business and I hope they do make money since I quite like being paid! Constant digs at anyone who charges for anything get old really fast.

Of course as this is a King/X arguement practise arena now, I won't take any of the comment too seriously :D

I have understood for a while that anything is possible in Software development, it just takes a Y amount of time.  And most companies only have X amount of time.  I just get more suspicious when it comes to bigger and more experienced companies.  *Shrugs*.

Has anyone done any of the new quests yet?  I picked up my long-abandoned 51 lvl hunter and found that many of the quests in Felwood have been completely redesigned or are just altogether new.  There's Goblin and Worgen areas/towns up north in that zone that are level appropriate to what else is going on there.  Cool stuff.

Yes, I've gotten an undead rogue to level 17 or 18. The entire starting quest chains are all 'updated' to post WotLK times. I'm in Silverpine forest now and there's an entire long quest chain that takes you down into Gilneas where you're fighting the Worgen.

I've already seen at least three Wrathgate-style in-engine cutscenes. One of them is a ride with Sylvanas where she explains to you her entire history with Arthas (fully voiced). It's 3 to 5 minutes long.

I wasn't really sure how sweeping the changes would be, but this is an entirely new game. I am very excited.
