You know Rick, since you do use it so much, and so effectively, for business, you could probaby depreciate it on you taxes...

Have you downloaded the kindle app yet? I'd be interested to see how you compare it to using your kindle.
I did and honestly, its not as nice as iBooks

I'll be sticking to the Kindle for reading books.  It's lighter, more "book-like", and I like how nice the print looks on the Kindle's matte finish screen.  But for things like magazines, comics, etc. the iPad will be nice.

So will this affect your paper comic collecting? Will you be converting to digital?

Rico

I'm sure I'll definitely be going and getting more digital comics now and less paper.  I'll always love a good paper comic in my hands to read, but the costs are getting frankly outrageous and they tend to take up a lot of room if you save them.

I got my iPad about a week ago.  I haven't had too much time to play with it yet, and sadly have seen been doing a lot of simple things on my laptop.  I mean, I know I can do them on the iPad, but I haven't yet invested the time to really figure out what apps I need.

Speaking of - do we have a thread yet for iPad app recommendations?  I'll ask before I go start them.  Because I know I could use some recommendations, rather that wading through the iTunes store, and still not finding what I need...

already on it!  Yep, My accoutant says that if I use it more than 50% for the business, then I can take a percentage of it.  SWEET!

I have been and always will be, your friend.

Yeah, I tried to depreciate and deduct a bottle of 25 year old Scotch and the IRS said no. I told them...But, I drink at LEAST 50% of it on the job! :)

Go ahead and start one Spaltor, with as many people on here with iPads that we have, I was just thinking we needed to start one.

Why am I suddenly feeling left out here? ;)
I know how you feel!  Once the new generation comes up (with competitors) I may fall off the fence and get one.
Come on guys! You should know better than to fall for the hype =). Laptop prices for something that charges you piecemeal in apps to simulate the most basic laptop functions and software?

Be brave and make PT Barnum frown.

I used my iPad all during college this term and the ONLY time I needed a laptop was when the teacher required us to run a science program via-CD.  I got around it.  And as he....is a different teacher I doubt I'll run into the problem again.  Also, the iPad has an awesome battery life which I need when I'm running around, doesn't lose my documents by accident like Windows will sometimes and let me create two awesome presentations in a fairly short time.  Its not a laptop, its something on a different level.

Also, its FUN.  I rarely can say that when I'm doing work, but its fun to make stuff in the iWork suite.  That is the best value of all imo.

And do I even need to link Microsoft's Office Suite's price?  ;)  That's more expensive than all these apps combined.

I'm still holding out for the humancentiPad. Then I'll convert. I bet Eric is so disappointed in you Dad for being a conformist.

@  Tim - the Splashtop app works really well.  I just used it to stream an .mkv file to the iPad from my PC.
@ Rick - I'll check out that FTP app.  I definitely need an app for that.

Checked it out with a fairly low-end game and it works pretty darn nice, probably better once I get on a faster connection.  So that works for me, the other solutions I've found are not nearly as good.

I have to wonder MSUfan, what's conformist, going with the iPad or sticking with a Laptop with an OS that the large majority is still using.  ;)
