The new podcast is up covering genre TV & movies from 1983.  So many great things to talk about and cover from that year.  Some listener comments and a little info on the next Trek movie.  All that and more on this week's podcast.  Enjoy the show!

A lot of great movies and TV, seems like yesterday...
Another cool movie for 1983 that was not Sci-Fi was The Right Stuff.
It didn't so well, partly because John Glenn was running for President and people where a little confused about the movie's intent.

Downloaded and ready for my drive into work Monday morning!

Looking forward to your reflections on 1983, Rico!

Oh man what a awesome episode great job Rick. I was 10 in 1983 but have so many memories come flooding back. Brilliant.

Halfway through so far. I was interested to see how much of the TV made it over here but given how little genre stuff there appeared to be back then, perhaps I'm not surprised to have seen much of it.

I was surprised by how much of the music in Rick's segment came from over here. Was that a US chart, Rick?

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Rico

Not sure what music list Rick used for his top ten, but here are Billboard's top 100 of 1983:

Ricks music segment sounded like it was stolen from my current iPod playlist! Loving the show so far. One thing, the first shuttle launch was in 1981 and it was the Columbia. 1983 was the first flight of the Challenger, is that what you meant? I thought you said it was the first shuttle launch ever.

Rico

Yeah, I think I said first shuttle launch, but I meant it was the first launch of the Challenger in '83.

That's what I figured. I have to admit I was a bit surprised to hear Paramount actually wants to do STAR TREK in 3D, I had no idea that was a consideration or that it had been for the 2009 release.

Yep.  And if you look at the poll running over at www.trekmovie.com the fans seem to really hate the idea of a 3D Trek movie.

Love the TV show retrospective. I also wasn't a big fan of "V", I thought it was ok but a little too campy. I was a freshman in High School in '83 and after 3 STAR WARS movies, 2 STAR TREK movies, ALIEN, Blade Runner, I was a sci-fi snob and "V" looked kind of low rent on TV to me.

Another fun podcast Rico.. it was great to hear how much Rick Peete enjoyed V.. sounds like we both had a great fondness for that series.

Looking forward to your next year in review.

Probably do one in March covering 1999.
