Well, after a final long long wait (to me anyway), I got my hands on my iPad 2.  LOVE this design, LOVE this look.  :)  Don't have much to say as I haven't played with it much, but going to love this I am :)

I bought one "for my wife" on its release day.  Black, 32GB wi-fi.

It's a very convenient device.  It's usually on an endtable next to us when we're watching a movie.  (Very useful for those emergency visits to IMDB.)  When I wake up in the morning, I can check my e-mail while getting my coffee ready.  I don't need to head to my home office and log onto my laptop.

32GB is the perfect amount of space for me, because I wanted 10+ hours of video for long car trips, to keep the kids entertained.

I love the ability to stream from my iTunes library on my PC.

I use the free CloudReader app to read the PDFs and CBRs that I've loaded up.  My daughter enjoys reading the DC toon-based comics that I put on there for her.

iMovie is the only app I've bought so far, but it's very intuitive and was fun to use and got the job done for the one video I edited.  Warning: it is a pain to get video recorded with other devices onto your iPad for use in iMovie.  It's really set up to edit video taken with the iPad.  Unfortunately, the photo and video cameras are low-quality.  I think they will get the job done for ephemeral recordings, but I'd use my FlipVideo for anything I wanted to record for posterity.

I passed on the Smart Cover.  I wanted something that wrapped around the whole device to give me more piece of mind when placing the iPad in a travel bag.  (I'lll post a review of the cover I bought when it arrives.)

Overall, the iPad 2 was a great purchase, one I don't regret at all.

On the note of iMove Dan, are you using an iPhone or a digital camera?  Just curious.  

I got the smart cover and its really nice.  Well made and solid, the magnets hold on quite nicely and flipping the iPad around for viewing or typing, it just works.  This I plan on using until I see an awesome case that covers the iPad and does more, in the mean time I bought a bag that I can just slip the iPad into.  A Targus Crave.  Mostly to avoid my iPad getting wet in our wonderful weather :).

Here's a question - is there an easy way to stream various other video formats from your PC to the iPad 2?  Things like in .wmv or .mkv format?  Or does iTunes need to recognize the video file and you need it also under iTunes on your PC?

An app called Air Video does that.  All formats even the rich ones.  Requires wifi or 3G :)

One thing you might want to look at is the camera connectivity kit that Apple sells.  It might work to transfer movies over.

How are you finding it in white? I have heard (Appslappy) that white can take your focus away from the screen (hence why Tv's are not in white)
