From what I know of the Motorola hardware is that it's pretty impressive.  But at that price you are definitely in the area you can buy a very nice laptop.  I think the sweet spot is to stay at about $500 or less for your base model of any tablet.  They should take notice that Samsung dropped the price of their Galaxy tablet already and I think it was only at $599. to start with.

mhm, I fully agree.  Actually, with all the streaming options that are available on iOS and (I'm assuming) Droid, sticking with 16/32 GB isn't such a bad deal.  I think though Verizon forcing everyone to get a Data package in order to use the Tablet will be a deal breaker for many.  An $800 tablet + $10+/month is pricy when laptops are generally around $800-$1,000 for some nice models.  And they don't require Verizon's data.

Here's the latest from the Wall Street Journal this morning:

New iPad: Apple (AAPL) has started manufacturing a new version of its iPad tablet computer with a built-in camera, faster processor and it will be thinner and lighter than the first model. The production of the new iPad shows how Apple is moving forward in the wake of Chief Executive Steve Jobs's disclosure last month that he was taking a medical leave for an unspecified ailment. Since the iPad's release, Apple has sold 14.8 million units of the device. In Apple's December quarter, the tablet contributed $4.6 billion in sales, or 17% of the company's overall revenue. WSJ.com

I don't see how they could come to this conclusion. If the thing is going into production now then it was in the works long before Steve went off. I don't think they wouldn't 'move forward' but this is not an indication of that.

I think you are taking it too literally, Joe. I think the author was simply making an off the cuff comment that the company is moving forward in his absence, at least that's how I read it, and this is just a part of the article. He's making a little noise, I suppose. Here's a link to the whole article:

Ah right, in the context of the whole article yeah, it just seems like a throwaway comment. Still not sure what relevance the statement had to the rest of the article. It's like it was put in as padding. Then again I guess investors would see this as a positive direction after the announcement of Steve's LOA.

Yeah, there's going to be a lot in the financial press and coming out of the analyst community as to what a post-Steve jobs Apple will look like and how it will perform. Right now, the underlying sentiment on Wall Street is that he is NOT coming back and the belief the company will continue to grow and innovate without him. If he comes back, that would be outstanding, but as an investor, I am proceeding under the assumption he is not.

Breaking news!  Apple employees capable of walking and chewing gum without Steve around!  ;)

Comcast/Xfinity finally just released an app that allows their online content (a very large number of free and premium channel offerings) to be streamed on iOS devices.  I think right now it only works via WIFI on the iPad and iPhone 3GS and 4.  I tried it out last night and watched a couple episodes of Californication on my iPad.  The quality was not that good, kind of pixelated in spots but definitely watchable.  This will be a great option for me when the TVs are occupied or I feel like watching something adult oriented when the kids are around.

How about this one...

How many Apple employees does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Answer:
Zero - They are waiting for Steve to come back and do it!  ;)

Been some rumors that the cameras will only be quality enough for Face Time and nothing else.  (In other words, no 5MP back-camera for photo taking).  Does anyone care if a tablet can take as good a picture as the iPhone?  I sure don't, dunno why anyone would want to hold a large tablet around like a camera.  Look like a tool to me ;).  Would rather take pictures from a phone anyway, that's a lot easier to hold and such, but what do you guys think?
