Looks like I'll being seeing this next week. Looking forward to it.

Saw it just now! In 3D with in a theater which had those moving seat. It was interesting but fun! The movie was great. I liked the first film but not the second and never saw the third and I am not a comic reader. I thought this film had great characters and a lot of heart. In fact the weakest part for me was the villain. I was happiest seeing the character driven parts of the story instead of the some of the fights. Two thumbs up from me! Oh, the 3D was very good, similar to Prometheus and Avengers where it's there for the action but not there for the quitter moments.

Saw this yesterday and loved it.  I was a big fan of the Tobey movies (well, the first two mainly), but I think this one tops those in a way.  First the cast is perfect and all put in a solid acting job.  The story was well done and interweaves a lot of elements in an elegant way.  I loved the pacing of the film especially.  They really allow some time to get to know the characters.  The look and effects were both literally amazing.  You really get a feel for how Spider-Man has to operate and move, etc.  And like Bryan said, the movie has a ton of heart in it.  There are some very tender moments - especially between Peter & Gwen.  I don't want to say much more except that I enjoyed this movie as much as Avengers.  It's not the same kind of movie, but it's just as well done and just as much fun to watch.  Go see it!

Record Tuesday opening for Spidey = 35 million!   :spidey

We hope all our readers in the United States are enjoying the 4th of July holiday today and certainly Sony Pictures must be pretty happy with the $35 million grossed by Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man in its opening day yesterday, including the $7.5 million from midnight screenings. $4 million of that amount is from the movie's IMAX 3D screenings.

That amount surpasses the previous Tuesday record of $27.8 million set and held by Michael Bay's Transformers exactly five years ago, and it's a promising start to what should be a strong week which could defy earlier expectations for the movie.

Check back over the rest of the weekend for more box office updates on The Amazing Spider-Man.

I agree with just about everything this critic has to say about the movie.  Very solid review.

Totally. He very well expresses all my feeling about the movie, especially the part about the villian. And i would add that Dennis Leary was terrific in his scenes with Gwen and Peter as well.

Might try and bring the family to see this one over the weekend.

Just saw this with the family (IMAX 3D).  It was very fun, and stunning visually.

A question about the extra scene during the credits:
Who was that 2nd person in the cell at the end?  Was that just the Dr. in multiple personality mode?  I know it was a lead in to a sequel, but didn't pick up who it was.
My take on that scene was this....
I think it was Connor's imagination but I think it was suppose to represent Norman Osborn.
Agreed.

Wow. This was SO much better than I thought, due to some negative reviews that I've seen. Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker is a spot-on interpretation of the character, smart, awkward, a wise-ass. So good. Gwen is a great equal to him, and The Lizard was great. And I spotted C. Thomas Howell as the crane operator guy....blast from the past!

As a former New Yorker, I got chills when
the cranes lined up to help Spidey.
He's New York's hero, and I love when the people of the city rally for him. Great picture, can't wait to see the sequel!
