Anyone really care anymore?

OK, I have seen ST11.

I confess that on the basis of the trailers I was expecting not to like it.

I was pleasantly surprised.

Considering that TNG episode where Whorf was shifting between parallel universes you can't really claim that this violates Star Trek canon.

Even though I watched the very first episode of Star Trek when it first aired, I'm a sci-fi fan not a Star Trek fan so if you can have parallel universes with alternate timelines then a lot of things can be played fast and loose.

I didn't see how they explained the young Spock knowing that Vulcans and Romulans were related since that was not determined until Balance of Terror in the Original Trek timeline.  But then Enterprise had encounters with Romulans and at least one was on Vulcan in that triple episode with the Kir'shara.
