The other day I was in Powell's city of Books, where they have a cubic acre of star trek novels.  I picked one up at random, and 3 hours later realized I had consumed about $3.99 worth of awesome whilst leaning against the Steampunk section.  It was my first exposure to trek pulp fiction, and it only took one hit to addict me.

I had to put DS9 Warchild down for awhile. Just not very good. Decided to get back into TNG with "A Time To Kill" which has been very good so far. I want to get into the pre Nemisis books as well starting with "Death in Winter". But I need to finish this A Time To series 1st. There are 2 more following "A Time To Kill".
I enjoyed the "Time to..." series, especially like how they sprinkled explanations throughout the books for lots of the inconsistencies that Nemesis created causing much consternation among the Trek hardcore fan base, like why was Wesley at Riker and Trois wedding in a Starfleet uniform, and how did Worf get reassigned to Picards command crew, etc.

I started reading the Voyager book "Children of the Storm" before I got some X-Mas gift books. The Voyager relaunch is very well written. Also in the queue is the Enterprise book "To Brave the Storm", looking forward to that, loved "Beneath the Raptor's Wing". The
Time to.." series was very interesting as far as a look into the crew pre-Nemesis and some of the political stuff that goes on in the Federation.

Just heard a great interview with Star wars and Sci-Fi/Fantasy author Michael Stackpole.  Very well worth a listen on MP3 / Itunes.

Here's the link to the "Guys can read" episode:

I finally dropped my anti Potter attitute and started reading the Harry Potter series.  I've already sped to book 5 and I have to admit it's a very good series.  Definitely improves from the beginning and by book 3 it's a complete page turner.  I can't wait to finish it, and see the films, which I haven't seen yet. :usflag

Hey Dr. Kankles!

That's awesome that you've been reading the Harry Potter series. I'm glad that you enjoy them. They definitely have a different aura to them than the movies. I enjoyed the movies as well but I got more out of the books at times. When you get a chance, give them a listen as well. Jim Dale does an amazing job performing the voices. They're all unabridged which makes it even better.

Hope you continue to enjoy the other books and the movies!

i'm going to be starting on spock's world soon, we'll see how it goes.

I haven't read Spock's World in ages. I'll have to find a copy and read it again after I finish The Stand.

Reading Vanguard: Declassified at the moment. Waiting for the last installment of a regency romance series I've been reading to be released. And I started Game of Thrones, but have put it aside for a bit. I like it, but I got side-tracked trying to catch up on some Trek books.

Finished "A Time to Kill". It was a very good book starting out fast but got a little bogged down in the middle with there being so many seperate missons taking place. Still gets a 8 out of 10 rating.
Read an older Entertainment Weekly from the library from Dec. 9. It had a fantastic article about Steven Spielberg in it. Also got a cople of graphic novels and Beckett Sports Card Monthly's. The graphic novels I picked up were Flash "Rebirth" and Flash "The Dastardly Death of the Rogues". So far "Rebirth" has been pretty good.

Finished Flash: Rebirth. I give it a rating of 8. Going to catchup on some magazines and comics before I get into something else.

Aye can't freaking wait.  This is going to be one show I watch day and date of air instead of waiting till it's over to marathon it.
