Star Wars: Darth Plagueis, baby!
I thought this was quite funny, if you didn't catch it...

Just finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Great  series and I was way late to that party.  One of the few books or book series I was sad when it ended becaause I wanted more.  Now I'm rereading Princess of Mars in anticipation of John Carter next month.

Reading the latest Star Trek novel by Greg Cox called "The Rings of Time". So far all I can say is meh.  :unsure I'll let you know if it gets better. Part of the problem of my enjoying this book is the prose reads like some old pulp fiction novel of the 1930s or 1940s and not on the high quality of other recent Star Trek novels.

I didn't like any of Greg Cox's books.  I thought his Q series was boring and almost unreadable.  How you could mess up a character as rich and wonderful as Q is beyond me.

Just finished the ST 'A Time To...' series again (on my Christmas Kindle).

Trek stories are rarely high art but it's nice to relax into a familiar universe now and again.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Agreed, although I am taking a little break from my post-Nemesis timeline catchup, as much as I've really enjoyed reading Trek fiction again, for the first time in a long time.  The last one I read was Q&A, which was pretty awesome...kind of a "best of Q" as they tie in or reference practically every canon Q appearance from TNG, DS9, and Voyager and manage to explain the whole reason why Q is so obsessed with humans and Picard in particular.  Pretty good.

I'm moving on to some mid career Elmore Leonard.  I'm a huge fan of the show Justified, which is just starting it's third season on FX.  So I am rereading the early Elmore Leonard novels featuring Raylan Givens, the protagonist in that show, inpreparation for reading the new Leonard book "Raylan" which was just released.  I've already finished "Pronto" which is Raylan's first appearance, and just started "Riding the Rap", the second Raylan novel.  I've got one more then I can read "Raylan."

I'm currently listening to The Lost Fleet: Dauntless by Jack Campbell via audible. My god, this is a great book so far. If you like military-style sci-fi you have to read this book. The author leverages his experience in the Navy to provide a very compelling story involving huge fleet actions that appear to actually obey the laws of physics!

highly recommended thus far, I hope the rest of the series is this good.

Finally got back to the Bargain Box. But the 50 cent comics are now $1. Oh, well. Got me some cool ones including Superman #200. Series 2. Here is a pic!

Finished up the "Stone of Tears" by Terry Goodkind (really good book).  So, started on the next Legacy of the Force book, "Exile."

The Legacy of the Force series was very excellent. Darth Plagueis is next on my reading shelf.

I have been reading some more graphic novels from the library but I also found "Industrial Light & Magic - The Art of Innovation." It has been interesting in that they talk about each movie they worked on starting in 1995 though 2011. There are 43 movies covered. Of course it's all geared toward the special effects of the films. It is pretty cool on how they do some of the effects. The book covers a wide range of movies from "Mars Attacks" to the 2009 "Star Trek". And of course the Special Editions of the Star Wars movies and the prequels. Very big book in number of pages and its size. 360 pages and it's almost 12X12. Check this out if you get the chance. It's got a $50 cover price or get it at your library like I did.

Love what Industrial Light & Magic has done. Their name is synonymous with special effects.

Thanks for sharing WillEagle, I just ordered my copy.
