They upgraded my service a bit, so an increase in speeds, not as impressive as some of you, but getting better, and better then Joe my fellow Canadian ;)

Been having some internet issues the last few weeks.  Comcast just put a new cable modem in and basically said the cable modem I bought about 6 months ago is not working.  I'm not sure what to think.  The issue was upload speeds had been dropping to basically zero.  Anyway, current speed with the Comcast modem.  So, I guess for now I'm back to renting one for $7.00 a month.  :(

This is a pretty big difference to my earlier internet.  Its a cable connection that my apartment has so it tends to vary I've noticed, but its still lightning compared to home.  I can't complain as I get it for free legitimately. :P

So I was talking to my cable company yesterday and they talked themselves out of a sale. It was pretty funny.

Me: Hi, I'm looking to increase my internet speed. I hear you have 60mps down. How much will that be to add?
CSR: Let me see what you have now... Looks like you have 20mbs down. What do you need 60 for? Isn't that fast enough? Are you a business or something?
Me: No I play a lot of XBOX and stream movies and I don't like lag.
CSR: It will be an extra 40 a month if you want to get it, but isn't 20MPS fast enough?
Me: Well, since you put it that way, I guess I can keep my extra $480 in my pocket?
CSR: $480?
ME: Yeah that's what it would have cost for the year, but I'm glad you talked me out of it. I can buy more games for my XBOXes.
CSR: How many do you have?
ME: One for each person in the house. I hate split screening, but we'll just make due on the 20 down.
CSR: Is there anything else I can help you with?
ME: Not really. I have every service you offer except for the porn channels, the only thing you could have offered was the speed increase.
CSR: Wow ... you do have everything.
Me: Yeah ... except 60 down, but I'm not a business.

Cable's been working pretty ok lately.  Oh, darn, now I've jinxed it!

My speed is almost where they say it should be at 20 down and 5 up. I had considered upgrading to the next service level but it would only gain me 5Mbps more on the download speed and for an additional $12.00 I don't think it's really worth that. I don't have any buffering issues on Netflix or Spotify so I guess I'm good.
