I've seen it listed as 1 hour only.. but several stories have said it's a two hour finale. But I read on a Heroes website that it really is a three hour finale and it's broken into three one hours.  I would just plan on recording from 8 to 11 just to make sure you get the entire thing.

I am pretty sure the three hour thing was the fact that the last 3 episodes compose 1 direct arc.  At least I thought I read that somewhere.

Okay just finished watching Heroes season finale.. have to watch it again tomorrow morning before work.

The final battle wasn't what I expect, we never got our huge Peter/Sylar battle but what we did get was.... WOW.

If you look back I posted that I thought Nathan would fly Peter and scarfice himself to save everyone and I was right!!!!!

So many of our Heroes fates are unknown. Peter, Nathan, Candice, DL, Sylar and Matt.

So much happened in this episode I don't know where to start. I  think I will leave it here and watch it again tomorrow morning and post once I get another viewing.

This was by far the best series this past TV season.

I enjoyed it, but I really wanted a big battle. Maybe next season.

Yes, they did wait until the last possible second for the big batlle.  I loved how they all teamed up to help Peter.   Nikki/Jess ROCK.  Just tell me -- what was that scene with the manhole cover ?  I'm assuming Peter will live through the explosion with Claires power.  Hope Parkman lives - I like Grunberg ever since Alias.

OMG - Hero is just great.

Rico

I liked the finale and it was amazing, but I did feel it could of been a bit more.  I loved how everyone came together at the end - even Nathan.  But one thing kept nagging me - why didn't Peter just fly away on his own?  He picked up that power long ago from his brother.  Is Peter limited to using one power at a time?  So Nathan had to redeem himself and fly in to save the city.  It appears Sylar may have survived too - which is a typical comic book type influence.  The bad guys never seem to die.  I think the only hero who probably didn't survive was Nathan - but who knows.  I loved the little tease for next year's season.  Overall, my favorite new show this year by far!

Agree with everything posted so far....WOW.  I especially agree with Rico...great episode but a couple things nagged at me.  The first is the same as Rico...Peter's abilities, why could HE just not fly away or why could Claire not "kill" him which I assumed would take a minute or two to recover from while the meltdown dissapated?  I guess I am basically asking the same question as Rico...is there something about the powers that I am not getting.  The other thing that bothered me was Sylar not dying....I realize that super-villains don't die but a trail of blood to a sewer manhole?  Hello Captain Obvious.....was there maybe one hero or one cop that maybe noticed something like that......and what was with the bug.....or is a bug sometimes just a bug?

Other moments from last nights episode........A villain worse than Sylar that realizes when Molly is using her power.....VERY interesting.  And what was the deal with Peter and Charles (RIchard Roundtree)?  Was it a dream? A hallucination? Or is there something more to Peter?  Hiro teleporting back and coming face to face with Kensei (at least that is who I assumed it was).....the eclipse (finally)...the fate of Nathan and Peter (I personally think Peter is alive but Nathan truly sacrificed himself)....Parkman.
Final question......who will be around next season other than HIro?

Most definitely the best show this year...without question.

Okay first I'll address the cockroach, they have shown up here and there through out the series. They are more symbolic of "not dying" they can pretty much live through anything. So seeing the cockroach on the manhole symbolized that Sylar was not dead.

As for Claire shooting Peter... if she shot him she was going to shoot him in the head and damaged his brain and as they have hinted at somewhere in the brain is where the powers are controlled, he would have died.

As for Peter flying away, they (the producers) have said that Peter uses his emotions to control his powers. That is why when he is upset his starts to go nuclear before he passed out. The next time he is going nuclear he is so scared that he's going to kill everyone that he can't control his powers... so he is unable to fly.

At least those are my take on your issues.

Well I'll be the dissention.  I thought compared to what the writers and actors have brought us that this episode was one of the worst this season.

Compare this to "Company Man" where we saw the extreme lenghts that Bennet would go to protect Claire.  Compare those pulls on the viewers' heartstrings with what you felt at the end of the finale.  I thought it was great that Nathan was there to save the day but I didn't shed a tear for him.  I didn't even really blink.

The dialogue and pacing of that scene felt much more like "oh.. there's Nathan.  Go fig."

I agree with the assessment that Peter was in no way in control of his powers to fly out of there.  He did get pushed by Sylar to the bursting point as it were but....

Then of course there was something odd about the way Hiro attacked Sylar.  I mean he got pwnd in a major way back at Momma Sylar's, how'd he beat Sylar this time?

I think the story was very good, but the execution felt much more like something a smaller studio or a lesser show might have done.  This was a major let down for me and I've had two coworkers already say "It's just going to be another Lost; I'm done".

Dunno... I'll watch next season but this ending didn't leave me wanting more, it just left me.

I, for one, am glad that they did not kill Sylar. I hate when they kill off the bad guy at the end of these superhero movies (Batman, anyone?)

And what's wrong with it being another Lost? Lost to me is a tightly plotted, well-thought-out, intriguing, well-acted, and highly entertaining piece of fiction.  A show could do worse than be another Lost.

Well Mr. O I don't agree with what you said but it is just your opinion and we are all allowed to have those.

Even though I expected that Nathan was going to fly Peter way I got choked up with Claire said "There must be another way" and then Nathan flew in.  The acting was superb!!!! And Charles was right it was about Love, loved saved the world, Nathan's love for his brother.  I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I love every minute of it. The entire cast of Heroes fought against Sylar, Matt tried to shot him, Niki hit him with the meter, Hiro stabbed him, HRG (Noah, loved that) tried to shot him. They all came together when they needed to.

Of course as I have said I wish there was a bit more sfx battle between Sylar and Peter.. but there fight made sense, after all they are only human.

I do have a question for your coworkers Mr. O ... they are willing to give up on an awesome series that has given us hours and hours of entertainment because they didn't like the last episode.  I'm not attacking your coworkers I have seen people say that on some Heroes boards also and just can't understand there thinking. Isn't that a bit childish.. "so the series didn't end like I wanted it to.. I'm taking my stuff and going home... pout... pout..."It just doesn't make sense. Anyways that's just my opinion.. and as I have said.. we are all allowed to have those.
