This week Rick & Jen look at the pilot film ("The Awakening") for the "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" tv series.  They watch the film and comment about many things along the way.  Thanks for the great guest cast you two!

I always liked the theme song, the instrumental not the God awful one with lyrics.

Half way done and having a lot of fun! I believe Kane was played by the same actor, Michael Ansara, who played Kang in TOS and DS9 once the series started. I loved the Starfighters as a kid, I had the AMT model as well as the full size action figure version which was sweet!

I remember that the first time I saw Jamie Lee Curtis was on this program.  They really jumped the shark though when Gary Coleman was featured in a few episodes.  :)  For Erin Gray's sake I forgive them..  ;)

Yes, bad acting and very campy, but then again, I like that!  Lol!

Thanks for doing this look back at the Buck Rogers pilot film.  I remember watching Buck in it's first run and thought it was cheesy then but it was fun.  I think you do have to remember when you're mention the bad lines or bad writing, that this was a show for family's and kids to watch.  So it had funny robots, plots that weren't too complex, and silly humor.  I think it was interntionally designed to be light entertainment and campy.  It was never meant to be thought provoking sci-fi like "Star Trek".  In my mind, this was the same kind of entertainment you'd find in "Dukes of Hazzard" or "The A-Team"...just light fluff entertainment.  I still have a fun time watching it and my kids like it.
