I was listening on the way home an Thursday and trying to work out if I would cope with a rematch. Still not sure I could live through it.

I do have fond memories of the show but I wonder if I'm better off keeping them as memories! ;)

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

ahahaha.  Yes it could be a crazy ride if we did every episode.  LOL.

I just listened to the podcast last night, great job Rick and Jen on one of my faves from my teenage years.  I loved watching the series when it was first aired.  I remember it was shown on Thursday night on NBC.  I loved the first season and I was OK with the second, but I hated to see it get canceled.  I saw the theatrical version in the Drive-In back in the day, I now have the comple series on DVD.  It includes the theatrical version on it.   the show may have been poorly acted and cheesy but for a 14 yr old it was good escapists fantasy.
I am going with the best information that I have.

I loved this show as a kid. I had the figures, the Starfighter ship for them, the model, loved it all. But it is borderline unwatchable now. Even the nostalgia can't make some of it watchable. Original BSG has aged a bit better.

Hah!  I remember after the guest cast covering Galactica 1980 - I thought 'This can't be as bad as these guys are saying!'.  I tried to watch an episode - and found they had not exaggerated...

I am about half way through the podcast and enjoying it immensely.  Great montage photo too!  And we get to see Jen in the uniform she wanted to wear!
I have never seen the model fighter craft that looked great!
A show I remember fondly, despite the poor second season.  I watched the pilot on Youtube recently. A pity its not on UK Netflix
Great podcast as usual Jen and Rick
Thank you!

The Best Rick and Jen podcast ever! (OK, the first of many).  Of course after getting all lathered up I had to head over to Netflix and suffer through it   :P

Glad everyone enjoyed the episode! I certainly had fun recording with Rick and I hope we can eventually do a regular show together.

It's a blast to re-watch old shows like Buck Rogers. Not just for nostalgic reasons, but for comparison purposes. I enjoy looking back on how far sci-fi has come since the old radio drama days. It was once something people thought was just for kids. That opinion has stuck around for a VERY long time. These days, its more than just aliens and laser guns, it's often food for thought. Case in point, Star Trek. Of course novelists have been doing that for a while: Enders Game, Brave New World, 1984 are all examples of how writers wrapped sci-fi around morality tales.

In reply to Saunders' comment, I  have to say that just because it's kid or family friendly doesn't mean the plot and dialog has to be weak. Really, I think the weak writing in this series comes down to how they allocated the money they were given to make the show. When you spend all your bucks (pun intended) on prop and set design, special effects and costumes, everything else can suffer. I don't have any proof to back up that claim, it's just my hypothesis. :D

Thanks for commenting! I'm glad so many liked hearing us talk about Buck Rogers. I wasn't sure people would.

Classic show. I remember watching it, and enjoying it at the time. Fortunately, I have a soft spot for cheesy 80's sci fi, so I still enjoy watching a few episodes now and then...

Great commentary, folks, looking forward to more!
