I hope that all of my fellow East-coasters are all battened down for the impending arrival of Hurricane Sandy.  The grocery store shelves are all empty.  We were very concerned that flights would be cancelled, and prevent us from getting home from vacation.  Parts of the south New Jersey shore are being evacuated.

Everyone stay safe. All we're supposed to get up here in Toronto is rain and strong winds.

WillEagle

Yes, Everybody stay safe. In central Ohio they are calling for strong winds and heavy snow and there are flood warnings in Ohio, too. Possibly by Monday night. I pray everybody stays safe.

They just announced that our local school district will be closed Monday and Tuesday - in anticipation of the storm.

Really?  Is that normal to call off two days in advance like that?

Bromptonboy

Not at all normal.  I hope this storm is all hype.  We are looking to get hit with heavy rain tonight and for the next day or so.  Heavy wind gusts up to 95MPH.

High wind warning till 6pm Tuesday. Possible 4in of snow. Of course nothing like what the east coast is getting but could still be bad with the high winds and flooding. I know that the wind wasnt predicted at 95mph though. Wow. Again stay safe.

I just want to go home. Wife and Kid are still in Boston and I'm in Texas for another forced two days.

I bet.  This storm is likely to keep you there for at least 48 hours.  I hope you managed to book a hotel room.

You going to work Pete?  I'm staying home today, maybe tomorrow.  Philly is in a "state of emergency" for the next two days.

I am actually off today (pre-planned).  I would just work from home while I could if I was on duty.  I have one of those cards for both NJ and PA that lets me be on the streets to get to work in an emergency (my company got them for us).

I am in my office but market is closed today and likely tomorrow. In all the years I have been a stock broker, i can't recall the markets closing for two consecutive days. Be safe everyone!

billybob476

We're in a severe wind warning here as well. Nothing closed but it wasn't a fun drive into work this morning.

Right, that was a full week. I was thinking weather related and had the question aswered on CNBC this morning. It was back in the lat 1800's when weather caused a two day closure.
