Flash provides the best option for portable devices as it's less likely to break, is fast, cheap, uses less power, and small. As flash capacity grows (watch companies like SanDisk) it will allow for more portable hand held devices and ultra portable tablet like devices to become more prevelant. We believ Apple has a flashed based portable device that would bridge the gap between iPhone and iTouch and their laptops and it will be flashed based so you have instant on capability.

Just saw they are dropping the price on the I-phone by a whopping $200.  Some p-o'd early adopters out there for sure.

That's just the cost of being first. I paid 500 for my first dvd player and 50 a disk with no features.

Actually I think they dropped it $100 per version.  You always pay more to be first.  But this drop does seem a bit quick.

P.S.  Yeah, I paid a fair amount for VCR's, CD, DVD, etc. when they all came out.  Only things I've kind of waited on a bit are HD stuff.  But as you all know - I finally took that plunge this past week.  Oh - and Apple products.  I won't buy the early versions of those.  Especially lately, things change just too quickly.

I think high prices are to expected when a person is an early adopter. Time and time again has proven given time, they will drop in price, and probably have more features. I guess part of the high price is the prestige of being the first person on the block with something hot.

Damn. I need to get one and build a PADD around it...

The future is coming too fast... I'm not complaining, though. ;)

One problem, the ipod touch is as "smart" as a nano, my video is better for everything except internet.

How do you mean "smart", exactly?

The amount of memory (the gigbytes)

Ah. Well you're getting an extra inch of screen real estate on the touch, that's a big plus.

Darkmolerman

True, I just wish it could actually be a memory upgrade as well as a all around upgrade.

I agree. 16GB for video is not all that much.

How much storage does an average TV show or movie take bought off iTunes?  Thought it was about 350 MB for an hour or so.  So roughly 3 hrs. per one GB.  I wouldn't buy the 8 GB iTouch iPOD, that's just not enough storage space.  16 GB might be livable.

darthcooley

16 Gig wouldn't be to bad My 30 gig Ipod has like 909 songs, podcasts & audio books , about 50 pictures & 6 movies & then about  10 other vid file & I have about 13 gig free. I would have to double check but I think a 2 hour movie takes about 1 gig.

I'm really mad that they announced the 80g video Ipod is going to be $250 now.  I just spent $250 to replace my broken 30g with another 30g, and now this...technology moves too fast these days.
