I sooooo want one of these.. I was just reading about them. The only bad thing and I think I'll wait to get one is the HD size.. I need a much bigger HD.

Rico

Did they announce when one's with big HD's are coming out?  I also use my iPOD in the car quite a bit and like the tactile wheel feel.  I can control my current iPOD without looking at it.  I don't think that will be easy to do with the new Touch version.

I think we all knew this was coming.  I may finally get an iPOD (the iPOD touch that is) when the bigger HDs come out.

Geekyfanboy

No they haven't announced the larger HD yet... but when they do.. I'll be first in line to get one :)

Dan M

It's definitely cool.

It'd be hard to downgrade the HD size from my 60gb Video iPod.  I'm glad I didn't wait for this announcement.

I look forward to getting my iPod Touch in 2009. :)

I'm a little disappointed by today's announcement.   I was expecting something a bit more revolutionary.

I agree that the HD size on these are pretty small. I know my wife has been eyeing a new iPod, and I am sure she will want this, but I am hoping she will wait until one with a large HD comes out.

Rico

I think they are trying to keep them light and solid state.  No HD's in these or in the iPhones.  I'm a bit split.  Maybe sometime I'd pick one up for just video use and keep my 30 gig for my big music collection.  Love the WiFi connect feature on these new ones too.

Be patient, younglings! HD tech is dead in portable devices, flash is he future, but flas needs to catch up to HD storage levels. Just wait, they will be upgrading the memory capacity very quickly. Trust me, I also said iPhone prices would come down for the holidays and that a G3 version is in the works, I know of what I speak.

Rico

I don't exactly agree that HD tech is dead in portable devices.  And I do know a thing or two about memory, computers, etc.  It will be quite awhile (and quite expensive) to match a 60 GB device with flash memory.  Add to that the ever growing file size needs due to higher quality content.  Well let's just say I can see room for both technologies for quite a long while.

Geekyfanboy

What is flash memory??

X

Like a usb or a memory card as opposed to a hard drive that uses magnets

Rico

Basically, it's a solid state form of memory rather than having a hard drive with moving parts and magnetic media.  Obviously much smaller in both size and capacity.  Good for small storage needs.

Also access times are much faster on flash memory then on those micro drives.
