Picked up a book at the library called "Clint Eastwood Icon" The Essential Film Art Collection. Looks very interesting.
Recently read
The Mighty Avengers - Secret Invasion Book 2 - 8.
Enders Game - Formic Wars Silent Strike - 7. Didn't realize this was a second part. Still good though.
Next up the Clint Eastwood book and Vol. 2 of Indestructible Hulk called Gods and Monster.

Finally finished the Star Trek Destiny trilogy by David Mack, it was great. It was crazy awesome to see everything come together in the final book. A game changer for sure. I want to see what happens next.
What's the best stuff that's next chronologically? Shall I dive into the Cold Equations trilogy? Looks good.
Overall, what are the best new (post-nemesis) star trek novels out there? Are those Shatnerverse books good?

ChrisMC

Cold Equations is safe enough to go right into, there are a couple standalone TNG books after Destiny, but nothing too major happens. Cold Equations is amazing.

The Destiny Trilogy is probably the best Trek novels you will ever read. Cold Equations is good but not up to the level of Destiny. I would highly recommend reading Jeffrey Lang's Immortal Coil BEFORE reading Cold Equations as it will help put the series in context. Also next year Lang is writing a sequel to Cold Equations. That will be the first Trek book he has written in years. I also like how The Fall series is going but there are two books left to finish that series.

As for the Shatnerverse novels they are not all that good. The first three books he wrote (using the word very loosely here as the Reeves Stevens' are the real authors) are the best of the ten. I would say that after reading Destiny the Shatner novels would be a real let down.

Ah, cool. Gonna try get my hands on immortal coil. So you like Destiny even better than those older Peter David TNG books? I freakin' loved Q-Squared. Hmm, I just looked up Q-squared and it says it was non-canon. I wonder why. It would be totally awesome if that was canon, and would explain so much of the various enterprises' time exploits. Ok, thanks for input on Shatnerverse, too bad about those.

I really enjoyed Q-Squared also but is it as good as Destiny? In my opinion no. I do think Peter David wrote some very good Trek books and in the 90s I would have probably said he was the best Trek author out there.

If you want other great Trek books you should investigate the DS9 relaunch series beginning with Avatar pt. 1 and 2. I also think Kirsten Beyer has done a fabulous job on the VOY relaunch.

Sweet. Will check out those DS9 and Voy. That's one reason Destiny so good, got to have some time with a bunch of different crews.
And....
(book series spoiler):
They referred to Janeway's death in Destiny and I was like wwhaaaa? I need to find out what the hell happened with that.
ChrisMC

Yeah, that happened in Before Dishonor...it's a Peter David one, but not one of his finest, that's fo' sho. If you want to know
Janeway became the Borg Queen after her ship was assimlated. Then Seven and the Ent-E crew tried to rescue her, she became herself long enough to give Seven time to inject the Endgame virus (Voyager's Finale deus ex-machina) into her and stopped the cube. Apparently, the female Q took Janeway at the moment of death and traveled with her "spirit" She comes back to life in the Voyager rboot, though.
Yea...the VOY relaunch deals with how the crew copes with the consequences of Peter David's Before Dishonor. A lot of people hated that book but I didn't find it as bad as others. I need to maybe re-read it though to have a better perspective now that some time has passed.

I like the Shatnerverse books. The first few were better but I liked about all of them. Never have read the Starfleet Academy one yet.
I'm trying to read "The Hunger Games" book before I go see Catching Fire. I won't be able to go till next weekend so I should be able to finish it.
Recently read "Indestructible Hulk Vol. 2 - Gods and Monsters. It wasn't as good as the first one but still worth a read.

Got into Clancy, just finished the Hunt for Red October, and just started patriot Games.

Just finished a graphic novel "Doctor Who - Volume Two - Tesseract" and have Vol. 3 lined up next called "Final Sacrifice". Vol. 2 featured Martha Jones who I always liked on the show so I was glad she was in there.

Started reading "Kenobi."  Cool book so far!  I've always thought of Star Wars as pretty much a western in space.
