Hubs is playing through an old Tomb Raider game on his PS2. We need to get the XBox 360 fixed, and then I really want to get Lego Lord of the Rings. I'm also a casual WoW player... more casual than I'd like to be, honestly.

Would you believe I am playing Mass Effect for the first time?! It's great!

terpette

I liked the first Mass Effect. I was a little less impressed with 2, and I don't think hubs has finished 3 yet. Or maybe he has and I wasn't home. Then again, I'm often less than impressed with game sequels.

You guys are playing some of the best games of all time...Skyrim and Mass Effect. Interested to know how u felt about AC3 Chris, I know your a huge fan of the series and 3 (actually the seventh game in the series if you count mobile versions) was a controversial title last year.

I just started Ni No Kuni on PS3. It's an epic collaboration between Take Five studios, storied Japanese RPG developer, and Studio Ghibli who did the animation for the classic Japanese movies Howls Moving Castle and Ponyo. I am about three hours into it and so far this game is incredible. The art is incredibly gorgeous and detailed, with the cities, characters, monsters, and outdoor environments all designed by the brilliant animators at Ghibli. I've never played a game before that feels so much like directly controlling a cartoon. The kids watched me play and were totally transfixed.  The gameplay is a mix of classic JRPG exploration and combat with a Pokemon "gotta catch 'em all" twist that is really fun. At 40 hours+ just to finish the main story and double that to do everything ill be playi g this one for a long long time.

I am a big Elder Scrolls fan in general. I'm actually itching to go back and play Morrowind after Skyrim.

Jobydrone

Is Morrowind downloadable through Xbox Live now or do you have to break out an old original Xbox?   (or do you still have a backwards compatible Xbox 360, lucky!)  My backwards compatible PS3 (80 gig) is still going strong which I am very grateful for, believe it or not I still have a pretty big backlog of PS2 games I fully intend to play one day.

I played Morrowind but didn't get far on my old Xbox, and then when the Xbox broke I never went back to the game.  It was my first exposure to the the Elder Scrolls series and I was just starting to get the hang of it when I had to stop.  That's a game I'd probably really enjoy going back and playing, the question is does it hold up after the awesomeness that was Oblivion and Skyrim?

A lot of longtime fans claim Morrowind is the best of the series. I guess you just have to look at it in the context of the time it came out. You can get the PC version on Steam for 20 bucks: http://store.steampowered.com/app/22320/

In general, I liked it. There were some parts to this game, like the naval missions, which were fun and new, and some tedium as well. The setting was nice, I do want to see what happens after the end of this game, what is the path forward? I did like that they simplified the combat mechanics, that was always a pin in the older games.

I do think Morrowind is the best, but it may have to with how differnt it really was to RPGs out at the time (2001). The freedom was unprecedented. I would buy a "remastered" version of that game a'la Halo Anniversary Edition in a second.

Just don't bother with the original Elder Scrolls: Arena. Jankiest controls ever :)

I'm currently playing Mark of the Ninja & Saints Row: The Third. Saints is my first GTA-open-world style game I've ever played and I'm enjoying it immensely. I picked it up with the Humble THQ bundle a while back. Its crazy insane but it clearly knows it and revels in that fact. Mark of the Ninja is a well polished 2D stealth action game and it is really well done. On PC/Xbox if your interested and I highly suggest you check it out. You can be ultra-stealthy and not kill anyone if you want or a brutal assassin, it lets you choose.

Also been playing Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic from GOG with a couple friends of mine. Really old-school 4X game that's been very enjoyable.

I maxed my character in skyrim before hearthfire came out and now I'm just jumping in occasionally with Skyrim, Borderlands 2, Halo 4, Call of duty BOP2, and magic the gathering.

Having tons of glitches with Hearthfire, won't let me adopt a kid even though I have a full house with bedrooms and fully furnished.
