Very interested personally although I believe around the holidays this year you easily be able to find a top of the line 55" or more for less than $1500.  I would imagine this TV would natively stream content wirelessly from most Apple computers, tablets and other devices, which would be a major selling point for me considering the obstacles to doing this currently.

Tim, no worries, I understand that you're not a fan of corporations. I'm not a fan of a lot of things and have shared that on the forums before. I was genuinely curious about your stand on Apple as a company. :) I think most likely at first, iTV will sell mainly to "fanboys", but once word gets out, it will sell well.

Apple does quite a bit right and some wrong.  That's my general stand on Apple, vague as that is.  I am definitely no hater, otherwise I wouldn't be so invested as I currently am in iOS technology or iTunes.  But I'm not a fanboy either (for example) considering my response to the Samsung commercials was one of amusment and not anger like many fanboys' responses were.

And as far as the iTV thing is, I really shouldn't give my opinion as we don't even know the price yet.  Its most likely we'll get to the release date and I'll say that is a fair price considering Apple's pricing history as of late with the iPad and Lion OSX shows Apple can be reasonably cheap when they want to.

You said you think that it will be $1500, not that it will be $1500.  ;)

Surely at this point you know well enough to take my word for it regarding these subjects.

When the Apple TV 2 was being launched their we're rumours they were going with the iTV name and this came up then.

Apple will just buy them off.  :)

Speculation is starting to become fact.

Apple TV: According to Gene Munster, an analyst at Piper Jaffray, Apple (APPL) will introduce a 55-inch Apple-branded television set late this year. Munster said the new TV will feature a revolutionary user interface, possibly incorporating the Siri voice assistant currently found in the iPhone 4S, and will be priced between $1500 and $2,000. Munster added that the TV will probably become available for sale several months after it is announced, most likely within the first half of 2013.

If this is true it'll be interesting to see what they do.

The problem will still be content. Unless they start making some deals it will basically be a TV with an integrated Apple TV box.

What is interesting is that to be class as a television it needs to have a tuner and this will be a first for Apple. My guess will be an OTA digital tuner, very unlikely it will be sporting a CableCARD device.

It's true, 100% certainty at this point. It's just a question of when and what it does.
