Looks like some kind of Best Buy survey is either making guesses about a possible Apple HDTV or has some insider info.  Check out this article below:

Yes, it's coming. The past few weeks analysts all over Wall Street have been issuing research reports in an effort to determine features, margins, incremental revenue gains, ect. and how it effect Apple stock price.

It will all depend on the price and functionality.  If its too expensive I just don't see it selling that much.  But we shall see...

Don't discount the fanaticism of the Apple faithful.

Oh true, but fanatics of anything will buy/eat anything so I don't talk about them when talking generally.  But if Apple wants this to be as mainstream success as the iPad has been, price is going to be a real factor here and knowing Apple, I don't see how they will conquere that problem.  BUT, we shall see.

And I say price because for TVs I've noticed most people only pay attention to two things when buying a TV: How big is the screen and how expensive is it.  Features rarely matter.  But hey, who knows with the iTV.

I have no doubt that if Apple does what they do best...they'll have little trouble selling this, even if the cost is a little high. I for one would be interested...

King, I don't really think that's true so much. I think a lot of people look at the feartures of televisions these days. There are so many offerings out there now, all comparable in cost, so it does come down to what the TV has to offer as far as functionality. I know that I for one pay close attention to the features of just about everything I buy...
On another note, you generally seem to be negative when it comes to Apple. Why?

Bryancd

Right now we think 42" and a price point around $1500. And they will sell a ton of them.

QuadShot

Bryan, that's a pretty fracking good PP. For what they're putting in that machine...I think it will sell. Any idea on release?

Bryancd

Fall. Yeah, it's gonna be a winner. The size s perfect as well, it will fit most existing TV wall cubby holes and furniture. Lot's of people still holding out on flat screen TV's and 42" is the sweet spot at that price.

I'm just basing it off what people around me and customers I worked in retail have done with TVs.  Which granted isn't the biggest pool of info, but its fairly consistent.  They only care that they can plug in a DVD/VCR/antenna/cable/Game-System (yeah, VCR), what size is it and how much will it set them back.  Everything else is extra fluff.

Have I been negative about Apple?  Didn't realize I had been....I'll check the other threads but I'm not being negative about Apple in this thread, I'm just saying if its too much, the TV won't sell much (outside the fanboy circles, which I should have stated).

It won't, it will be a seemless and simple integration of all your personal content with an easy to navigate web browser which can be controled by your IOS device of choice. Typical Apple, perfect.

QuadShot

Tim, no worries, I understand that you're not a fan of corporations. I'm not a fan of a lot of things and have shared that on the forums before. I was genuinely curious about your stand on Apple as a company. :) I think most likely at first, iTV will sell mainly to "fanboys", but once word gets out, it will sell well.

Bryancd

I think the concept of fanboys is really dead at this point. Clearly, consumers in general are fans of Apple products based on their sales.

I feel there will always be fanboys, yes Apple has garnered mass appeal but your avarage consumer will not camp out overnight for an iPhone and get into heated arguments on iOS vs Android, PC vs Mac or iTV vs 'traditional' tvs.
