Alright well thinking it over and talking with my Dad as well. I think I'm gonna wait on getting an iPad or an iPhone till I have a more steady income and have everything all squared away. I just don't want to rush into anything at the moment, but I am looking at getting a new laptop like Rico suggested. Found a good priced one, it's a PC and I'm good with that, cause I really just need a laptop or something like that for mobile use.

Sounds like a wise move.  And if you wait, you can get an even better iPad 3 or even 4.  :)

Yeah, think about the iPhone 5 as well, cause I am gonna need a new phone/iPod Touch pretty soon. So I could kill two birds with one stone.

There's tons of good, free converters for PC, the one I used before I got my Mac was called ipodme but that was about a year ago so there might be better ones now. Currently I use Handbrake for Mac which is free, feature rich, fast, and easy to use.  You can also very easily bypass copy protection on DVDs to use those programs and convert the data on the disc to a format your iPod or iPad can sync with.  There are tiny little programs that do that, just google it.

Remember as well, that for movies and music, you can stream from your PC or Mac to an iPod and iPhone without putting the files on the device.  So as long as you are home or connected to your network over wifi you don't have to have your media on the device.

Also check out the threads on some of the other tablets we have been talking about here.  The advent of the Amazon Fire is spurring price drops on tablets all over the current market .  You could seek out the HP Touchpad, which is discontinued but currently selling out their existing stock for $99 bucks for their 16Gb model , that is if you can find one.  It's a ten inch tablet with comparable features and functions to the iPad. I might get one myself if I can find one, just as a backup.

Well what I really need to convert DVDs for is to put my Les Mills Program Release videos on my mobile devices so that I can watch them whenever I need to learn or check choreography. They may be copyright Les Mills, but technically I am Les Mills. We just don't have the right to distribute it to non-instructor. So I just need a good program to convert it. Wanted to see if anybody had any good suggestions. So I'll check those out.

Your going to have a very hard time porting an existing Mac OS onto a PC laptop.  I couldn't even say if it can be done to be honest...

King

Not that hard but it depends on the laptop ;)

Dan, let me know what model you are getting, you may just be able to keep using OS X on it if you have the right one. :)

Rico

Looks like some folks are thinking the iPad might get a price cut....

I wouldn't be suprised to see Apple lower iPad prices leading into the iPad 3 release. I don't see it happening before the holidays.

Great...I just bought my wife an iPad2 for her birthday last month (it was a HUGE hit by the way).

I don't think the iPad has ever been discounted on a large scale as fara s I can remember.  Wouldn't count on it much.

I agree, it's not very likely. And the author of that article draws a lot of conclusion I don't agree with at all.
