LOL!  There is a new rule in Hollywood, any movie needs to contain at least one of the following:  James Franco, Natalie Portman, Sam Jackson, Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, or robots/aliens.  You get bonus points if you have more than one of the above!

billybob476

I don't think you can have enough Natalie Portman! :)

WillEagle

Good one, Rico! And I do agree with Billybob but I can't bring myself to watch her most recent one that also has JAMES FRANCO in it!

I can't wait for this.  I was a huge Apes fan when I was a kid.  I remember I had a record album/comic book adaptation of each of the first four films, that I read and listened to probably 500 times.  I even didn't absolutely hate the Burton reboot, although I think Mark Wahlberg is the worst actor working today in mainstream cinema.  To me this looks awesome.

Joby, I agree! I'm a huge Apes fan myself, even (sort of ) liked the reboot with Mark Wahlberg a few years back, though, it could have been much better. From what I've seen, this looks ROCKIN'!

I remember when I was a wee little one, maybe 12-13 years old, a local theater had an Apes marathon - all the movies back to back for one admission. My dad and I sat through HOURS of talking Apes! Awesome!!

Bryancd

Me too. I loved the movies as a kid, they were on TV a lot in the New York City metro TV market as Saturday and Sunday afternoon movies all through the '70's. I was General Urko for Haloween once or twice. :)

Rico

It's funny, but some of the earliest movies I recall seeing in the theater were the apes films.  Don't think I saw the first two that way, but from 3 on I did.  Hope this new one is good.  I didn't care much for the Wahlberg one from a few years back.

Bryancd

I didn't mind the remake, Tim Roth was terrific.

Jobydrone

I loved the controversy over the ending of the remake.  It was rather incomprehensible.  I guess you weren't meant to think about it too carefully.  It just so much paled in comparison to the timeless, seminal ending of the original film.

I love the Apes stuff, and as you have seen in my video entries to the podcast, I really enjoyed the Tim Burton remake.  I am so looking forward to this new idea.  WOO HOO!  IN fact HBO had a free weekend not too long ago and I taped all the Ape movies in HD, making my way through them for the billionth time!

I have been and always will be, your friend.
