So, Leonard Nimoy just can't stay retired it seems.  He's due to be back on "Fringe" and now this....

Mr. Spock himself, Leonard Nimoy, has joined the film as the voice of Sentinel Prime, the predecessor of Optimus Prime whose wrecked body is seen in the teaser trailer, found crash-landed on the moon by the Apollo 11 astronauts in 1969. Later, after being brought to earth, he takes the disguise form of a fire engine in the movie's massive, climactic battle through Chicago.

Nimoy was previously the voice of Galvatron in 1986's The Transformers: The Movie.

Michael Bay had wanted to ask him to provide a voice for the second film, "Revenge of the Fallen." "I was too scared to ask him," the director told the magazine. "Plus, he's married to Susan Bay, who's a cousin of mine. So I had to be careful. I've met him at family functions. But he told me, 'I would be honored. I'm glad to be back!'"

Bay added "The robots have more character in this movie. Much more. You really understand their struggle, on both sides actually."

Starring Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey, Alan Tudyk and John Turturro, Transformers: Dark of the Moon hits 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on July 1.

Someone needs to throw the dictionary at Leonard Nimoy and tell him what "Retired" means ;).

Great to hear he'll be in both.  NOW I have to watch Transformers 3.

The wife just told me about this. She saw it on something she was looking up. Cool!! His voice will be a good one for a Transformer!!

i was fiddling around on the internet looking for more info on star trek 12. at first i couldn't believe it.
every time i hear about some "supposedly retired" guy coming back i ask "what will they do next?"
this happens to be one of those times.

How about the folks who "retire" then go to work as a WalMart greeter? Or...how about Lance Armstrong??? ;) :P

I don't think Walmart "greeters" are paid as employees.  But yeah, athletes pull this stuff all the time - retired - not retired - retired again.

Had dinner with a friend last night who worked on this show.. she's a stunt woman/actor.. she had some stories about Michael Bay.. it's amazing he still get's work... sounds like a very hard man to work with.

If they paid me enough $$, Bay can turn me into his personal coffee table.  But I'm sure a lot of the crew don't make what the big stars do (or anywhere close to it).  Even well paid Megan Fox complained about Bay, and now she's out of Transformers 3.  But, I admire her principles, and her other attributes. ;)
