Ahh, I see.  Well, they did it before on the iPhone right and it seemed to work out ok.  Besides, do all apps have to run at full screen size?

The iPhone 4 is double the display.  This is easier to do because A: Original Apps still fit perfectly (albeit don't look that awesome, but they still work) and B: All you have to do is double the pixels of your art.

As for the 2nd question, idk.  I don't have droid and they suffer from fragmentation on their software.  I know some phone's on their OS can't use apps because their display is whacked.  Do they have to run at full-screen?  Personally yes.  Technically....well, someone else will have to answer that question.  Since Idk.

Not sure why I didn't think of this before but why can't the app just alter the screen resolution on the fly like a PC program does?  Or you change it if you need to for older apps?  I really don't think this will stop them from increasing the screen resolution.

KingIsaacLinksr

I honestly don't know why.  I'd have to ask an app developer for the answer to that question.

I think the next iPad (whenever it is released) will support 4G, the higher resolution retina display, perhaps improved multitasking, and maybe better audio to go with their HDMI video output.

Flash will never be in the iPad unless Adobe concedes to changes in Flash to make it more stable and less of a CPU hog.

Rico

Rick - with regards to audio, do you find the iPad 2 has much more volume and better sound than your iPad 1?

The speaker grille is larger and the sound is somewhat louder and has a bit more bass in it.  But if you want to play something for a group more than 5-6, an external speaker would be best.  I have a Logitech BT speaker which works great with the iPad/iPhone and has a BT stick for use with any PC/Mac.

I think Apple is going to rely on AirPlay/Headphones for "premium sound".  That's not a bad idea either.  I also have suspicions about MobileMe that makes me think the memory in iPhones/iPads may not improve for a while.  (Just a theory though, I  have no proof).

That is possible.  I figure that MobileMe is going to be free soon, giving Apple the appearance of addressing cloud storage for its customers.  It might also be a step at providing streaming audio to iDevices.

This is nice for those that got the Wifi-Only version.  Basically, if your hot-spotted to your iPhone 4, your iPad's location will be transmitted like it was a GPS signal.  So google maps on your iPad will work just nicely.  Connecting through Wifi in general still provides a general GPS location though, just not very specific.

Being pedantic as someone for whom GPS forms part of the daily working grind, if you're connected through WiFi you get absolutely NO GPS signal, just a generally not-very-specific location.

Sorry! ;)

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Dangelus

Yeah it's wifi triangulation or something isn't it?

It's brilliant that the hotspot feature can access the gps chip. Shows there is more going on here than what could be done with a mifi device or jailbreak tethering.
