I must be missing something, I have the sharing setup on my network, but how do I access it?  Through the iPod-app?

I am up and running on iOS 4.3 without incident on both the iPad and iPhone 3GS.  Now I am just waiting for tomorrow to get the new iPad 2.  See my blog for my thoughts.

Cool Rick.  Are you going to the Apple to store to get one?  If you snag one in time for our Skype chat on Saturday I think we all would love to hear about it.

RickPeete

I am probably going to buy it from a Best Buy so I can get the Reward Zone points for it. In fact, I am getting my wife one as well.  (I am selling my current one on Gazelle.com and between that and using some Reward Zone vouchers, I can basically pay for hers.)

I am getting the 64gb 3G white version and the wife is getting the 16gb black one w/o 3G.

So if I get it tomorrow, I will use it to make the Skype call on Saturday!

I'm getting the 32 GB White Wifi-Only one.  Gives me a reasonable amount of balance with storage for economic sake.  If I truly need 3G power, I can always bounce a signal off my iPhone.

So you guys like the white look.  Interesting.

P.S.  Tim - doesn't Wi-Fi tethering via your iPhone cost like $20 more a month - just for that?

Yes, but it also gives you 2 more GBs (in addition to the 2GB data plan for iPhone) to use and compared to buying a 3G iPad, you pay $120 for the hardware and $25/month for 2GBs.  The iPhone Wifi Hotspot in my opinion is a backup.  I have wifi at school and home (such as my home wifi is...) and those are really the only places I plan on using my iPad for the near future.  For the rest of the time, I can use the iPhone and if I really need 3G on my iPad for a month, I can put down $20 and should be fine.

So I have thought this out just a bit ;).

I guess if you have an iPhone and already paying the overhead and monthly costs on that it sort of makes sense.  So that's about $75 iphone cost + $20 more for tethering a month.

So does that 2GB per month run out if you just do some basic web surfing?  Seems like such a small amount to me.  Is there an unlimited plan for either the iPhone or iPad anymore??

If your doing basic web surfing and social networking stuff (no Downloading apps or iTunes or Youtubing), the 250MB (basic) plan should suit you.  2GBs is actually a tad big but 250 MB is too small for my use.  I still think its overpriced though.  But as long as you got Wifi at home, it is really easy to keep under 250MB or 2GBs.  I pay $68 and I would be paying less but guess what, AT&T has fees >_>...

As for 2GBs.  I went on a trip to Disney and used my iPhone's 3G data pretty intensively on the trip to and from Oregon.  At the end of the month I spent 1.15GBs I believe.  I didn't do a lot of video streaming, but that's pretty much impossible to do on 3G while moving 65-75MPH in a car.  I almost think its impossible to hit 2GBs on the iPhone unless you have 0 access to Wifi during a month.  (Only exception to this is video streaming.  This costs a lot of data bandwith compared to anything else.  So a lot of Netflix over 3G will cost ya)  This is due to how Apple setup iOS to restrict data usage while audio/video streaming (using lower quality bits per second) and its multitasking keeps data flows to a minimum.

There is no unlimited plan or at least, there won't be once May rolls around.  Verizon has it available for their verison of the iPhone but its disappearing soon.  iPad unlimited data is no longer available.

Did you figure out Home Sharing yet Tim?  It's easy to set up, go into settings under iPod and add in your apple ID and password.  Then you should have an option under your videos or music to switch from your local device (iPhone/iPad/iPod) to your shared library on your network.

To me at least, the iOS 4.3 isn't really all that impressive.  The tethering thing...a waste in my opinion. I mean, if ATT had a reliable network so that you could count on being in 3G when you need it, then maybe. But the thing I just am fuming about is ATT is charging MORE to use it! What the?! And at $20 more per month, not worth it at all. I highly discourage this. I love my iPhone 4, but hate ATT. Stuck with them for another year. If ATT doesn't improve their network, they'd better start boxing up their offices because Verizon will be on the hunt....my two cents.

Canadian carriers support the mobile hotspot at no extra charge, so I'm liking it.

Just had a look at mine and it suggested I call Orange to arrange it. I assume from that that more money will be required (but haven't confimed it yet).

No thanks.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Feathers, I agree. Billybob :P   :)

Yeah, I figured it out.  I looked everywhere but the iPod settings first time around.

My iPad is ordered.  3-5 days to shipping so it'll be showing up sometime during my Spring Break.  Cannot complain about that whatsoever.  :)

Anyone hear how store sales are going?  Did they run out yet??
