As far as Newstand is concerned, it is clearly designed for the publishers.  It's just too bad because quite honestly that app could have been put into iBooks.  But for the obvious reasons it was not, so people would be encouraged to put magazine subscriptions in there.

I have, quite frankly, lost any interest in reading digital magazines or newspapers.   The prices are way too high, the format is a bit weird and most (if not all) of the content is online for free.  Newstand is good for those that still want magazines, but I've shoved to the back of my screens and have little chance wasting $$ on it.  I think we should have just Let them die on the vine and let a new industry take over.  Yes, that is harsh, but how many people my age are reading newspapers regularly?  It is a small minority from what I can tell and the closing of newspaper companies indicates that pretty well.

I would have much rather seen an app designed for reading blogging websites or similar.  But there is little $$ to be had in that for Apple.  But at least they updated safari :).

King,
Sometimes I'm not sure where you stand on things. Some times, its like you really LOVE Apple, then you bash it. Dude, you're fickle! :) But I agree, a blogging app would have been cool.

The other thing that bugs me about newsstand is that you can't put it in a folder!

lol!  I'm not so much fickle as I can critize even the things I love.  Apple isn't perfect(and if I've stated so in the past then I need to slap myself).  I still like Apple products and this update was largely great for me, but Newsstand was something I didnt really want or need even upon announcement of it.  Just saying.  (in a lot of words ;)

Ah...:) I'm not sure about Newsstand yet. I don't really care one way or the other about it at the moment. I'd LOVE to see Starlog in that store though! :)

Bryancd

Man, is Starlog still published?! Loved Starlog as a kid...

UPS Guy just dropped off my new iPHONE 4S....Will post my thoughts on it later when i actually have a chance to open it.

I don't know really. And yeah, I loved it too. Every year for my birthday, my dad would renew my subscription! Ah the good old days. Youth is SO wasted on the young!

Actually you can. Just not officially. Create a folder and quickly put it in while iOS is "thinking" and it goes in. The problem is if you fire it up, it pops back out. So this little trick will work if you never use it.

billybob476

Yeah I read that somewhere. The problem is Newsstand isn't an app, it's a skinned folder and you can't 'legally' put a folder in a folder.

Dangelus

Yeah but once you get it in its out of the way if you don't plan on using it. But I bet bet they fix this little trick in the next update! :)

May have to try that since I have no interest in using it.

My big love is still iMessage. The ability to text overseas for free is great. For some reason I'm far more communicative this way then I ever would be by email (as Joe and Rick are probably starting to realise... Sorry!). Somehow, 'chat' type things just dont seem important enough for email (or HeyTell) but I will use iMessage.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

No worries, you're breaking up the monotony of my rainy Friday afternoon at work.
