I have the OS on my iPad now, and I'm pretty pleased with the changes.  I'm not using the cloud for anything yet, because the best feature...backup and anytime download of all purchased apps, music, and movies is available by default as long as you attach your apple ID (and has been for a while now actually.)  I plan to continue my manual backup on my iMac when and where I choose.  In general I am opposed to automatic updating and backup of anything.  I like to be in control.  I think this stems from back when I had an HP laptop that would grind to a halt every time my antivirus program would automatically run whatever it was doing in the background.  But especially with the iPad and iPhone that I use most of the day, I want to decide what's on there, when it goes there, when it updates, syncs, and backs up.

I really like the improvements to Safari.  I tried that Dolphin browser that was recommended here a while back, and didn't care for it.  The tabbed browsing in Safari is great.  I did have some crashes after updating...specifically when I was messing around with the private browing option in the settings menu.  Overall browsing seems much quicker and more responsive, most noticeably when switching between tabs.  I hated how the page would reload every time you switched windows in the old version.  A terrific improvement.  I also like the addition of the ability to save webpages for offline reading at a later time...a great feature for us non 3G iPad users.

Newsstand seems like it could be cool, but I refuse to pay $5 or more per issue for a digital magazine.  If the price comes down or they start to add some more reasonably priced content I would consider using it.  I really dislike that I cant move the newsstand  icon into a folder or delete it entirely since I don't plan on using it in the near future.  I like all my apps and folders to be on one page, so space is at a premium on my iPad desktop.

iMessaging is a great addition but none of my close acquaintances or family have updated yet, so I haven't used it.

The only real annoyance is that some of my regular go-to apps are no longer functioning to their full capacity.  EGM Digital, the one digital magazine I read (and highly recommend if you are into video games and have an iPad if they ever fix it) is now totally broken.

I bought the game Scribblenauts Remix, originally one of the most innovative and fun nintendo DS titles now ported over to iOS...and it is really great.  An amazing fun puzzle game for the whole family, where you control Maxwell, who is trying to capture "Starites", and uses a magic dictionary to assist him.  The player types in almost any word he thinks of and it will appear to help him get the Starite.  If the goal is up a tree, you can type "Ladder" and a ladder will appear that Maxwell can climb to get the star.  Or type "Jet Plane" and fly to the top of the tree to get the star.  Or type "Fire Axe", chop down the tree, and get the Star.  An amazing fun, creative game.

Today ios5 has become buggy..... my iPAD had all duplicate contacts but i fixed that, now all the groups on my iPAD are duplicated and no way of correcting that that i can see. This morning i received two emails that apparently came from my mobile me account...here is the scary part one was a pic and the other a video that i took back in early Sept and then deleted them from my iPOD touch ?????? Crazy makes me think big brother is watching and knows too much.

Hey - one thing I was thinking and wondering is if many of the issues people are having are when they have multiple iOS devices?  I only have the iPad and so far so good.  I wonder if the confusion comes in when when you have say an iPhone and an iPad and they try to sort of sync and merge everything together.

I forgot one more thing.... when i synced up my iPOD nano it deleted all my contacts and will not sync them up anymore. I spoke to Apple and they are slammed.... huge wait times, guess i'll wait for the bugs to be worked out the servers must be working crazy hard.

I set up my email address on both my iPad and my phone, it just sends the messages to both.  I may disassociate it from my iPad since I don't see myself messaging from it, my phone is always with me (even when I have the iPad).

I always wondered if you buy an App for your iPad and it's a universal App, does it automatically show up on your iPhone too??

Good question... guess i'll find out after i get my iPHONE 4S this afternoon.

Well, it depends on what you mean by automatically.  There's a setting in the "store" option for automatic downloads of Music, Apps, and Books to automatically download new purchases made on other devices.  Default is off.  If you choose to select those, I imagine whenever you are connected to the Cloud (and on WIFI if the content is over 20MB) you'll get your content.  If you have those turned off, you can see your purchase history in the app store app on your device and manually download anything youve purchased to any device as long as it is compatible.

Plug in your device.

Click on its entry on the left then go to "summary" at the top. Scroll down you should see a checkbox to enable wifi sync.

Unplug your iPad (don't eject it, just pull out the cable) and it should still be recognised as being linked in iTunes.

When you go and charge it somewhere else it should try to wifi sync.

Rick, you may have to turn your device off then back on. I had to "reboot" my iPhone to get it to sync Wi-Fi...

I have not had any problems with my iPhone and iPad in sync, but I basically went and exported both my calendar and contacts from Google to iCloud and then turned off google except for mail.

Notes and Email however have been iffy so I've been avoiding using those apps until things calm down.  iWork seems to be just fine though.  So is Photo stream.

But then again, I'm not one to have problems with iOS all that often.

Yes it does.  And if you buy an iPhone app on your iPad, it will show up on your phone/iPod.
