finally watched the trailer.. not sure how I feel about this.. at first looked like a top gun kind of thing but with the navy.. then turned into Transformers and then the ship started to drop those pegs used in the Battleship game. This is a wait and see for me.

Yeah a little cheese factor there...
"Prepare to fire"
"Which weapons?"
"ALL of them"
Dun dun DUNNNN.

New trailer is out.  This movie is looking pretty fun.  Almost could call it Transformers 4 by the looks of this preview.

This is definitely looking like Transformers: The Water Battles.  I'm still interested.  But if this were Michael Bay behind it I would skip it, still looks like he is though =\

I think this looks cool! I will be seeing this one when it comes out! And it has Liam Neeson in it so how could you go wrong.

I saw the movie this afternoon and enjoyed it.  I thought the first part of the movie was a little slow, but when it got going... :metallica:

Is this the new trend in Bomb proofing summer movies?

"Battleship" Avoids U.S. Release and Makes $170 Mil Around the World

UPDATE: Sunday, April 29th: "Battleship" is now up to $170 Mil worldwide without US release until May 18th.

"Battleship," Universal Pictures' big summer entertainment, cost over $200 million to make. You know it's cheesy and not very good, so why subject the studio to American reviews? Very wisely, Universal has been opening "Battleship" around the world in advance of its May 18th U.S. landing. And the result: already $129 million in the bank. And more to come. These numbers are from Boxofficemojo.com. And they tell you why Ron Meyer is so good at his job running the studio. The movie has terrible reviews–it's scored a 48% on Rotten Tomatoes. One British reviewer simply called it "trash." Universal calls it "money" and there will enough of it by May 18th to avoid a "John Carter" disaster. This is the new trend. If your movie is bad, play for it people who just need to see explosions and special effects. The movie stars non-actor Rihanna, and "John Carter" hero Taylor Kitsch.

The Avengers is doing the same.

It does seem unusual to release such big, high profile summer movies overseas first.  Especially weeks ahead as in the case of "Battleship" - a movie partially about an American battleship!  They better hope the tech heads don't just download these off torrents, etc. before they show up in theaters over here.

With the rain we had over the weekend, that's probably coming!

Kid's TV over here is full of advertising for Battleships (the board game) as a tie-in with the film but the ads for the film itself seem to have gone away pretty quickly.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Unless the board game versions now come with alien invaders too!

Funny you say that, I was playing X-Com over the weekend and it kind of resembles Battleship with alien invaders :)
