I really don't need gritty in my STAR WARS, thank you very much.

QuadShot

Nitty maybe...Gritty? Nope! And for sure, no Dirt Band...

The more grit the better I say! I think we need some Battlestar Wars :)

LOL! That's what I was thinking as well!

I do not need to see prostitutes in the Star Wars universe.  Granted, there would have been a sex trade in Mos Eisley, probably right there in the Cantina.  But Star Wars is watched by TONS of kids -- my 13-year old son included -- and the seedy side of the galaxy is not something he is at all interested in watching (nor am I willing to allow him to).

I think the balance we are getting in the Clone Wars is perfect for that age group.  If the live action series is going for an adult age bracket, they are going to lose a large segment of their current fan base.

Of course, if they are waiting 3-5 years for this to start, then my son will be old enough to watch something in that vein.  So perhaps Lucas knows who he is targeting after all -- the Clone Wars generation!

...or if we talking prostitutes maybe we should be making "HBO's Game of Star Wars" :)

I think what we are all saying is that Rick McCallum is a moron.... :)

Good one!
Although I can't help but think that all those clones have to go someplace when they have 48 hrs. leave....there must be an equivalent of 'Quark's' hidden on some deck of the Death Star.  ;)

There is. No one like to talk about it though. Its hidded deep in the bowels of the Deathstar...Called Ewok's Place...run by a guy named Jar-Jar - the name so cool the used it twice!

Bromptonboy

Jar-Jar must be dressed like Huggy Bear in that place...  ;)

Interesting Article, I wonder if they would be focusing on the Black Sun organization, as in the extended Universe, they are crime syndicate, so I am wondering if Lucas would be looking to bring them to screen from the books. Also the under world of Coruscant would be interesting to see on film, since they have covered it in the books.

LOL! This is too funny! Nobody has a problem with the slavery and murder of a village, but the whores and drugs are an issue? Did anyone seriously think that Jaba was only playing dress up with his female slaves or was I the only one to detect more sinister undertones on the life a a slave in Jaba's place?

Everything that was talked about in that article is already pretty present in the universe. Han was a drug smuggler that dumped his cargo then shot Greedo first. It's always been there and if they do a live action show, why assume it will be for the kids? Also, if they've seen the movie already, it's not like they haven't been exposed to some very questionable people.

Father's chopping of the limbs of their kids.

kids murdering villages, breaking rules, getting married in secret then lying to the people that are looking after him.

Rather than trusting fate, Jedi cheating at games of chance to get their way and doom a woman to slavery.

I say bring it on, it's not like it's not there already.
