Well, it's getting pretty close to the end of the TV season.  Been a rough year for genre television.  Most genre TV shows on this year probably won't be back next season.  A brief rundown:

"The Cape" - gone/done
"Stargate Universe" - almost finished, last episodes airing now
"No Ordinary Family" - most likely won't be back
"V" - most likely won't be back
"Smallville" - ending it's 10 season run
"Chuck" - borderline to return
"Big Bang Theory" - will be back for at least 2 more seasons
"Fringe" - actually renewed

A couple bright spots for me were the SyFy version of "Being Human" and the new "Game of Thrones" on HBO.  Along (of course) with new "Doctor Who" on now.  So, we're get new "Eureka" and "Warehouse 13" this coming summer.  And that new SyFy series about people with "powers" (the name eludes me right now).  But it was a rough season overall for genre TV.

Rico, I have a quick question for you. Is calling Sci-fi genre television a local thing there? I haven't heard that used much for strictly sci-fi shows before your casts.

Rico

It's not a local thing at all.  Entertainment magazines, newspapers, online articles, etc. have generally referred to SF/Fantasy TV as "genre television" for awhile now.  Even though there are obviously multiple genres, the term has come to be associated mainly with SF/fantasy content.  Do a quick Google search on the term "genre TV" or "genre television" and you will find mainly articles focusing on these types of programs.  Same thing goes for genre movies.  So, I've come to refer to it the same way.

SGU I'm sad about. Chuck I really hope comes back and I think there is a good chance. Fringe and Big Bang I'm so glad. The rest though I just don't care much. I mean we frequently have genre shows get canceled, but this year we got some kinda crappy stuff. The Cape was alright I guess, but I haven't watched the last few episodes cause I don't really care. I gave up on No Ordinary Family after episode 3 cause I just hated the kids so much.

All the shows that have gone I actually like.

It's strange, such a great year for movies and a crappy one for TV.

We need a new thread on next years new TV shows to cheer us up. :)

Don't forget all the awesome stuff coming back and on now Doctor Who, Eureka, and Warehouse 13. I think we're just fine.

Looking most foward to Eureka coming back. I LOVE THAT SHOW! And I found it on Netflix too. Shows I'll miss are No Ordinary Family, V, & Chuck. I really want V & Chuck back!

Rico

Oh, I forgot to mention "The Event."  Doubtful that will return either.

stonut

The Event si showing on channel 4 over here, they have now moved it to midnight, guess that tells you all you need to know about the viewing figures.

WillEagle

I stopped watching 'The Event' but the wife still watches it. She really likes it.

stonut

well if channel four have moved it to the graveyard shift i do not think they will be re ordering it.

ElfManDan

That's not as bad as Discovery Channel moving my favorite show Out of the Wild: Venezuela to 2 AM. I missed the last 2 episodes cause the DVR didn't record them and they won't run any reruns. And I have no idea why. It's so frustrating.

Dangelus

So next season we have:

Fringe
Eureka
Warehouse 13
Being Human
Game Of Thrones
Doctor Who

That's really thinned down my viewing.

And most of those will either be done or nearing the end of their run by fall or so.  I'm sure we will get some brand new genre shows to watch in the fall too.  Oh, and "Clone Wars" will be back then too!  :)

WillEagle

Don't forget that Wonder Woman is coming! Oh, yeah and that TNT show Falling Skies.
