I am a bit shocked all you UK folks haven't made a post about this yet.  I mean, it's the wedding of the century - right?  Aren't you guys excited?  Do you get the day off so you can go down and have a pint with the Queen?  Lynn is much more excited I think than I am.  She asked me the other day how many hours the TIVO can record - LOL!  Anyway, cheers to the happy couple.   :cheers

I guess because we are so saturated with the subject in our media since they announced the engagement!

Yes it is a national holiday so some of us will get the day off depending on your line of work.

I've been told that I will be woken up at the appropriate time by my wife so that I don't miss it. :(

And I believe I heard that Meds is hosting a big Wedding Day party at his house! He's decorated his house in all sorts of royal goodies!! :)

I'm in!  But only if we also have a "Doctor Who" watching party too!

I am looking forward to this, I have found memories of watching Charles and Diana get married on TV live here in the states.

Carol and I would like to personally thank the royal couple for moving their wedding day :)  Congratulations from the two of us !!

I am also looking forward to this.  When Charles & Diana married - I couldn't watch - since I was in the army at the time.  This one I won't miss.  I like Katie - she is contemporary, and yet seems to have a lot of dignity.  She is walking into this one with eyes open, and with more life experience than Diana - so I hope she is emotionally better equipped for the circus that lies ahead.
Should be interesting to see if the talked about succession order gets changed to give daughters the same rights as sons.  I think each of the Commonwealth countries has to ratify any change like that - I can't imagine that would happen quickly.

We should have a thread? Where's the sci-fi influence? Where's the interest? (don't let my wife read this!)

Next Friday, Rick, we all get an extra bank holiday for it (but I'm not sure I'll be glued to the TV, unlike some :)

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

It is St. George's Day today - so I think we can file for a geek exception.  :)  No need to get Mrs. Feathers involved....unless you get too critical of the topic of course...

Well, we certainly have plenty of threads that are not SF on the forum.  But I'm detecting just a hint of resentment in some of these responses from the UK folks.  I've always wondered how a land with a monarchy is viewed in these modern times.  Is the idea of a royal family one people still respond to over there?  Just curious.

Feathers

Mostly, yes I think.

Media-wise, there's a bit of fuss over the fact that many are using the extra public holiday for an extended trip abroad rather than celebrating the event but when you look about at the other news on plans for street parties etc, there's still a lot of positive feeling towards them.

The other bone of contention, of course, is related to who is paying for all this when public services are being cut...

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

It's April the 29th, this Friday coming. We're having a party indeed and you all ate invited, in fact we ate having a street party (maybe) lol. Today is St Georges day and the ten houses in our close 8 have St Georges Cross on show (including mine) I on a personal view am a bit of a royalist. I don't agree with some of the expense (eg Prince Andrew) but with William I have high hopes for a better future for the Royal Family.
I'm glad it's on a Friday, Dr Who's on Saturday ;)
