Man, you guys were cutting edge.  I think I got my first cell via work in about 2004 or so.  I think I've had three cell phones in my life.  And the first two were work issued ones.

I remember my dad having an old Nokia brick around earl mid 90's. The phone company hated him. His plan was 30 free minutes per month and then a certain amount per minute. He always swung it so he only used the 30 minutes by always talking on his phone for less then 1 minute at a time (no per second billing at the time). Most months he ended up not paying anything for his phone. He would get weekly calls from Cantel (now Rogers) begging him to change his plan.

That phone passed to me around grade 10, probably 1997-ish.

I've been a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer for many years and therefore I avoid "drinking the Apple Kool Aid" for the longest time.  However, a few years ago I got my first iPhone and I haven't looked back since.  I use my iPhone and my iPad all day long and can't imagine not having them.

I owned one.  It was so cool at the time.  My boss had a bag phone and I had the women's show phone.  At least that is what I called it.  I'll never forget a few phones later I got the Star Tac.   Oh, man, it was soooo coooool.  and so much smaller.  I had one of those motorola flip phones for what seemed forever.   Ah, those were the days.

My first cell phone was a Star Tac in 2000. I had a job that required me having a cell phone and they paid the monthly bill. I felt so cool owning one.

Kevin - have you looked at any Windows phones?  Some people seem to like them.  But the problem always is the lack of apps.

billybob476

I have a buddy with a Samsung Focus and he seems to like it. The whole tile thing is pretty cool but yeah, lack of apps.

Rick has an Android, Rico is asking about a WinPhone.

Actually two guys at work here have pretty nice Android phones, a Samsung Galaxy SII and an HTC Evo 3D. Still wouldn't give up mu iPhone for them but they have fun rooting and putting different ROMs on them.

Rico

Latest I've heard on iPhone 5 now is Oct. 7th-ish.

No, I've not seriously looked at any of the Windows phones.  I have helped some co-workers set them up or troubleshoot issues with them.  I didn't come across any serious flaws per se.

As you pointed out Rico it really comes down to the iPhones having so many more apps and much better quality apps as well.
