One thing that makes a young geeks heart skip a beat is a good pitched space battle.
From Battlestar Galactica's Slug Throwers and Nukes to Treks Phasers and Shields, the strategy of two capital ships going toe to toe is a thing of beauty!

One example: what B5 lacked in CG it more than made up in FX shots.

Less talk, more fight - enough said.

No one does this type of special effects anymore, or at least, the possibility of it is disappearing with SGU.  :(.  I really hope someone has the courage to make a space sci-fi show again.
