Wow, what a great Bond movie and a terrific stand alone spy thriller..
The obligatory intro action scene was great! Tension, drama, amazing motorcycle chase. The train bit was a little over the top but not too much, loved it. Really liking the Adele theme song, thought the opening credit sequence could have been better (I miss Maurice Binder) but certainly more back to Bonds roots and that's the story of this movie. BOND IS BACK where he should be. The film has somewhat erratic pacing and scenes which are very long but in context and totality are worth the wait. Some action sequences are better then others and I don't think they really get as exciting as the opening. The villain played by Javier Bardem is mesmerizing and creepy. Very Heath Ledger Joker. There are a couple of WTF, how did that happen moments, but it's a long movie and clearly had to be edited down (how did Bond survive the shot and fall and where is the bullet wound from Moneypenny's sniper rifle and how did Bardem escape?). But the ending with an amazing look into Bond's past is great, Albert Finney as the "butler" is a nice addition. The scene where they get the DB5 gave me chills and the scene where it's destroyed and the look on Bond's face made me smile. And the death of M was very touching and I got a little misty! Finally the last scene in the classic MI6 office, wow, BOND IS BACK!!!
An excellent film. Excellent theme by Adele (though Casino Royal still rates just a tiny bit higher on the theme) and great visuals for the intro. Liked the movie from beginning to end and it was a fun journey. Also enjoyed the villain more in this film than the previous one. So go and see it. Also really enjoyed the ending, it gave me chills...

Just got back from the theater, loved it!  Totally old school in every way, which as Bryan said is the entire point, the theme of the whole movie. Top notch, maybe the best Bond film since the classics.

Loved it.  Bond is definitely back!

We were going tonight but circumstances have worked against us. Hopefully we'll get to see it before it gets pulled from the big screen.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

Loving the feedback from everyone. :D The final scene in M's office is amazing, punch the air moment. He's back.

Saw it today and enjoyed it very much.  I've enjoyed Daniel Craig in the role since he took over and he seems to be very comfortable as Bond now - and it shows.  Very old school style Bond film and a pretty simple story overall.  I'll chat a little more about it on the podcast this week but this is really a cool and slick Bond movie.

I didn't get to go yesterday like I wanted so hopefully we can make it next weekend. From your posts it sounds like I need to get to it as soon as possible.

Hit over $500 million already worldwide and about $90 mill of that just this weekend in the US.

Saw this with the wife this afternoon. Although I did enjoy the film I'm not as enthused about it as others have been. I think the film bogged down quite a lot and I'm a little disappointed that it's a departure from the direction the franchise had been going with Daniel Craig at the helm. It seems a step backwards to me. Now maybe that was intentional by the producers to celebrate the 50th anniversary but I personally don't think it was the right decision. I was hoping to see where they were going to take the Mr. White storyline next but I guess they are abandoning it. I'd be willing to bet that all the Bondisms in the film are John Logan's doing.

I really enjoyed it. It felt like a Bond movie more then the past few. Quantum of Solace left me a bit confused, and found the stories really complex. This one was much more straight forward and had all the Bond Elements in it.
I liked the part where Bond Jumped onto the Subway Train, and the Elderly Couple made the remark. Reminded me of the Bonds of yesteryear where he would always run into the American Couple. Also pulling out the Aston Martin was really cool, especially with all the Gadgets it had and the Machine guns in the head lights. Also liked the villain, he was a lot of fun, and creepy, a bit over the top which I really liked.
Here is some info on the box office. Hopefully I'll be adding to it next weekend.

LOVED, loved this movie. Yeah, it was old school....but it's a crowd pleaser. Best Bond in along time. I do have a slight continuity question (as if that ever mattered)
If Judi Dench's M succeeded Robert Bown's M in Goldeneye, but then Casino Royale told the tale of Bond getting his Double-O status and Judi Dench is his M, and now she's dead and we get Moneypenny and the classic office....guess it doesn't matter. I mean, the last 3 ARE part of a reboot, right?
I view the films since Daniel Craig came on as sort of an "alternate universe" set of Bond stories.  So I think they take things they want and mix them up a bit.  Very much like JJ Abrams is doing with Trek.

I don't like to think of 'alternate universes or re-boots or the horrific suggestion that there are different Bonds. I do think having Judi Dench as M in Casino really screwed things up if you wanted to do a Bond time line.
