My Trek in Sci-Fi - Podcast episode idea

I've been sitting on a podcast episode (or series) idea for a few months now as it's been forming in my under-used brain. I'm not completely sure it will fly but thought I'd mention it here and see what others thought of the idea.

Simply put, it's a TrekSF episode focussed on presenting an overview of the 'SF journey' (or 'Trek' ;)) of a particular individual (i.e. a forum member or listener). To be clear, the idea is that a guest host does a show and talks about their experience of SF and how they got into the genre. (Their 'Trek in Sci-Fi' if you want the corny title and original seed of the idea.)

To be clear, I don't see this as something Rico would do since ought to be someone talking about themselves, not a host discussing someone else. (In Rico's case, we've already heard quite an insight into his history with Sci-Fi although I'd never say he couldn't do it!.)

I see it as an occasional TrekSF topic at best (or maybe just a one-off) since many people would cite the same influences and it could all get pretty boring pretty quickly if fifteen people came on week after wek and all said the same thing. Of course it could be boring anyway since it would be a show about an individual as much as it was about SF.

The other issue wth it would be one of clips since (unless you own DVDs of everything you watched as a kid) there would be little source material to fall back on. If I were going to do it, for example, I doubt I could come up with much more than the theme music for my particular topics of historic interest so it would be a very word-heavy show rather than the usual mix.

As I say, I'm not wholly sure it's viable (or entertaining) but it's interested me as an idea for long enough that I thought I'd throw it out to the gang and see what people thought.

Good idea.  I used to do something sort of like that way back in the early days on occasion.  I think I called it the fan focus segment - or something like that.  The person could certainly play clips of some of their favorite Sci-Fi moments, etc. too on the show.  Love to learn more about you guys with this type of cast.
