This looks really good..

"John is an extraordinary teen, masking his true identity and passing as a typical high school student to elude a deadly enemy seeking to destroy him. Three like him have already been killed ... he is Number Four."

Here's more info from Wiki...

Nine infant aliens, who closely resemble humans, flee their home planet, Lorien, to hide on Earth. An invading species, the Mogadorians, have destroyed their planet, and followed them to Earth to hunt them down. Each of the nine aliens is given a guardian and will develop superhuman powers as they become adults. They are each assigned a number. These last children of Lorien can only be killed in the sequence of their numbers. Numbers One, Two, and Three have been killed so far.

Number Four (Alex Pettyfer), also named John Smith, moves to Paradise, Ohio, disguised as an American high school student. He makes a friend, Sarah Hart (Dianna Agron), a sweet Midwestern girl who is a photographer. After being on the run his whole life, Number Four falls in love and now has something to stand up and fight for.

More info about the novel..

I Am Number Four is a young adult science fiction novel by Pittacus Lore, the pen name of authors James Frey and Jobie Hughes. The book was published by HarperCollins on August 3, 2010, and spent 5 weeks on the children's chapter of The New York Times Best Seller list.

DreamWorks Pictures bought the film rights in June 2009; it will be released on February 18, 2011. The novel is the first of a proposed six-book series.

I love that the film rights were purchased before the book was even published.

Sorry to respond so late. Yeah, it's one book so far and part of a future series. The book and the movie were shopped at the same time and is written by two authors under the pen name that they have for the book. One of those writers was the guy that had to apologize on Oprah for his book being mostly fiction, but all that controversy aside, they wrote a damned fine book that had me hooked.

Cool! I don't mind getting hooked into a series, as long as it's good and the author puts out installments regularly. I got hooked on the Eragon series, and even got excited when the author decided to extend it from a trilogy to a 4 book series...until now. It's been a little over 2 years since the 3rd book was released. Man!

The wife and I want to check this one out next month!

Finally got to see this last night. I thought it was a good movie. I give it a 8 out of 10. Worth checking out if you have the chance. Good actors and a interesting story.

Good to know.  It's on my list to see still.
