Well, my girlfriend's dog is 17 and we think its about time to let her go.   Sad, I know but we are considering a black lab.  Not sure about english or american.

Carol is even open to name him Spock but unlike his namesake, this one will have a first name you can pronounce...

Labs are great dogs.  Our previous dog was a lab.  I like the name too, of course.  ;)

P.S.  Might I suggest trying the humane society.  Saving a dog is a great way to go.
