So I got an iPhone.  Those watching my Twit feed got to see the box and it is a 32 GB version.  Now, guess what that means, I get to eat my own words as I think I said multiple times on Twitter and this forum, that I would never, EVER switch to AT&T.  Or if I did, I'd get a lousy signal and not enjoy it.  Although it's only been 48 hours, the signal has been about as good as Verizon, if not better in some ways.  Why did I make the jump in the first place?  Well, various reasons, but one main reason is if Verizon, in all unlikeliness gets an iPhone in the next year, I have a feeling that will do to their network what it did to AT&T.  (Crash and Burn ;) )Just a guess mind you.

So after an app syncing issue (my fault), I was curious for those that got an iPhone after getting an iPod touch, what app to recommend me or just an app in general?  Something that the iPhone uses really well that the iPod Touch doesn't or not as well.

Also wanted to make this thread for others who might be curious.  :)

Been trying all week to get an iPhone4 for my wife but they are still insanely hard to come by here. I'm going to try calling retentions tomorrow and see if I can get one shipped that way. Ridiculous.

My favorite app is the "AroundMe" app.  No matter where I am I can find out where the nearest restaurant, type of food, entertainment, or whatever you are looking for.
Trek gets better and better the more it is shared.

I'm kind of a Foursquare nut (as you can probably see from my twitter feed). Don't know why but I like the whole checking in places thing.

Yeah, got started into that when I saw about 5 people I was following doing the same thing.  With an iPhone, it'll be a ton easier using that app.  iPod touch is limited...

Will check that out, sounds similar to another newly discovered app I found "Yelp."

I went into an Apple Store on the 15th before they even opened.  They seemed to have a bunch, (I sneaked a peek at their storage closet) but I'm guessing that demand has been keeping them close to the bottom of the barrel on their supply.  I got lucky.  :)

Yeah it also hasn't bee out as long here in Canada. I actually ended up gaming the system a little bit. I ended up calling customer retentions and just asking them for an iPhone. I guess they figured I was transferred from standard CS and they were able to locate one and ship it off. Also I was able to negotiate a better deal on both our lines :)

Welcome to the Darkside - Darth Att greets you..

I couldn't do without my iPhone.  I have the 32GB 3Gs model - my contract is up in May I think, so I may upgrade at that point to the iPhone 4.  Although the game may change again before then.  Would love to see a 64GB iPhone 4...

Cool.  Did they just give you a little bumper for it when you bought it to help with the antenna issues?

billybob476

You have to order the bumper from Apple directly, I bought the phone though my service provider.

There's an app for that!

I downloaded the Apple Case app and got a bumper fromthem that way. They quote an incredible lead time for delivery, but actually it arrived well before the stated date.

It means wihdrawing free cases from 30th Sept becomes easy since thay simply switch off the App server.

My one complaint about the bumper is that it's manufactured such that most accessory cables don't actually fit into it so you need to remove thecase in order to fit the cables. Pretty short sighted if you ask me since at least one of the cables that doesn't fit is the Apple branded AV cable.

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

I think that's what a friend of mine has (if I'm reading his tweets correctly). Apparently they're great but we don't live close enough for me to have seen his.

well luckily this company is based here in Toronto and they have a stall at one of our big shopping malls downtown. Gonna go give them a look. These guys were recommended on this week's AppSlappy.

While I'll get the new bumper, I'm actually looking at www.getuncommon.com for a nicer, better case.  Almost got one for the iPod touch before I decided to get an iPhone in the future.

One of my favorite games is called Hungry Shark, where you use the tilt sensors in the phone to swim around and eat fish, swimmers, scuba divers, attack boats, level up and get bigger, and seek out hidden objects in the deep waters.  Lots of fun to be had with the free version and for 99 cents you get the whole game where you get to fight a giant crab.  Obviously Netflix is great.  Skype.  A game called Tilt To Live is great for quick twitch gaming.  Also make sure you check out www.Freeappaday.com every day.

edit:  oh I didn't read your initial post carefully enough, that you were looking for iPhone specific apps, sorry.
