2 CD "Star Trek" Soundtrack - Limited Edition

OH - got to get one of these 5000 special 2-CD sets coming out very soon.

Fans of Michael Giacchino's score for the 2009 Star Trek movie are in for a treat. Varese Sarabande has announced they will be releasing a limited edition 2-disc version of the film's soundtrack in June. More details below.



Star Trek: The Deluxe Soundtrack

Varese Sarabande released the single CD official soundtrack for Star Trek last year. But now the publisher says they they have "answered the call" for a more complete version of the score. The newly announced special, deluxe edition Star Trek soundtrack has over an hour of additional, unreleased music and sequences it into a chronological presentation of nearly 100 minutes of music from the film, including the final film version of the Main Title.

I'd love to have a copy of this but $30 is a little steep. I saw there is a 2CD deluxe edition of Search For Spock also coming out. I'd probably be more inclined to buy it because I think the score is better but the Giacchino score is nice too. I already own the original soundtrack CD that was released just before the movie came out last year.

I think part of the price is for the limited edition, special packaging, 28 page booklet, etc.  But since one CD can be about $15, it seems $30 isn't too bad for a 5000 unit limited edition set.  This score has grown on me and so I ordered a copy.  I'm sure I'll make good use of it - on the podcast too!

I don't think they will be.  These special, limited edition soundtracks tend to only be released in CD form.
