I avoided this movie on DVD because I had heard some negative reviews.  Don't listen to them.  Check this movie out!  I just watched on Starz, and I was blown away.  I loved it.  Granted I had way low expectations.  But even so this was a really good movie.  If you like Sci-fi horror its a must see.  Dennis Quaid is great in this movie

I saw this in the theater and didn't care very much for it myself.  It had the kernel of some really good Sci-Fi ideas, but (IMHO) became a slash'em shoot'em up.
But as you say - if you like space-horror - this might be just the ticket.
